“DO NOT STAY HERE!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 October 2011

We made a terrible mistake. The relais and chateau hotel we were meant to stay in was booked so we listened to the concierges recommendation. thus, La Fenice.
The first room we were in had drilling front he street so loud we couldn't stand it and walls were shaking. They moved us to another room that had a closet..yup! First one didn't. The hotel was so strangely located that we were lost every day and also at night worse as we were a bit afraid walking the dark streets. Friends had asked us where we were staying in Venice and I thought that was annoying. Now I know why! You need to stay in a good hotel in Venice! Everything is terribly expensive in the city to begin with but so happy to have finally visited the city! We even had to pay for a small bottle of water. We left after two nights and went to Florence and stayed at a fabulous relais and chateau hotel that was less than the dump in Venice(hotel in Florence called Relais Santa Croce). I was miserable in the hotel and wouldn't walk on floors without shoes......my advise is to save up and go somewhere else!

Room Tip: Both rooms we saw looked like a bordello...

We stayed in 9 hotels which were all 3 stars across Europe. This review is based on the fact it is a 3 star hotel.

Pros: The biggest shower of any of the hotels we stayed in. Bathroom was good. Room was clean and spacious. The air conditioner worked well. The Staff were very friendly and helpful, all spoke english well enough. Free wifi for 15minutes every day, or 2 euro for 24hours. Great location in Venice as many great eateries and San Marco Piazza are all just around the corner. Buffet breakfast was as good as any of the other 3 star hotels we stayed at.

Cons: Finding the hotel could be a bit tricky, however finding anything in Venice is tricky until you've been there before. Had to take the steps up to the first floor where the elevator begins, however staff helped us with our luggage. If you were disabled, Venice is full of stairs anyway, so the stairs to the elevator were not an issue. Our first night we noticed some mosquito's in our room, i think the previous guests whom checked out had left the windows open all morning.

This hotel was fantastic, it met all of our needs during our time in Venice. We wouldn't have a problem going back there in the future.

This long-established hotel is good value for money; comfortable, quiet, only a few minutes' walk from the city centre and situated in a peaceful little square. It is very near vaporettos, San Marco, the Rialto bridge, restaurants and so on.
Our first room was small and dark, with a filthy carpet and a bathroom designed for midgets. When I protested the staff were very obliging and friendly about finding us a much nicer room with a pleasant view. The receptionists were also very helpful about booking our journey to the airport, finding other restaurants and so on.
The breakfast is excellent and very much better than many Italian hotels. We would have liked muesli as well but that is a small quibble considering how delicious it all was, especially the yogurt. The restaurant is wonderful - as it has been for many decades.
We were on vacation so were not bothered about the internet or television but both seemed perfectly adequate.

Room Tip: The rooms are larger in the newer wing of the hotel.

First off the pics of the room look nothing like those on the site. They are tiny with hard beds and outdated baths. A bit of a walk from the city center. Staff was OK and breakfast was limited. The price is very high for the room and hotel type. More of a 2-3 star hotel.

A little hard to find, but conveniently located in a nice small quite square just a few minutes walk from San Marco Square. Staff was friendly and very helpful. I had a single room wich was very small but clean and adequate. It had a great view out the window of a nice courtyard and a small canal. The included breakfast was very basic, but you can order things like eggs, fried meat and yogurt for an extra charge. I was not able to access the Internet from my room, but had no problem while sitting in the lobby. There was a charge of 2 euro for 24 hours for Internet. TV had lots of stations but only BBC and CNN in english. There is an attached restaurant which I didn't try but seemed to be crowded every night. There was nothing about this hotel that really wow'd me (except the location) but also no complaints. For the price this seemed to be a great value considering the location and how much more other similar hotels cost.
