Three-Island Venice Boat Tours
Reviewed 6 April 2018 via mobile

My family booked tickets for the 4 hour boat tour which would take us to the nearby islands for a visit. The ticket and ticket counter personal told us to arrive 15 minutes before departure. We did so diligently.

To our great disappointment when it reached our turn to board the boat we were told that the boat was full and it was he last boat departing. There was a family of five who also could not board even though they booked tickets 2 DAYS in advance.

What the company did was deceive their customers by overselling tickets (selling more than the boat’s capacity). This was RIDICULOUS because it was our last day in Venice.

The ticketing officer rudely told us to come back the next day and brushed us aside by stating we could get a refund.

This service is clearly meant to deceive and is an unethical form of sales.

What is the point of overselling tickets to entire FAMILIES? I would recommend the public transport instead.

Clearly this has been happening for a while and many have been rudely disappointed. We are just one of the families who have walked away feeling cheated.

I would rate this as ZERO if I could because the service was beneath anything decent.

A good overview of the main three islands of interest, Murano, Burano and Torcello but with hindsight we would have taken the public waterbus service as there was just not enough time allowed in each place - only around 50 minutes. Felt rushed and they will go without you if you are not back at the boat on time. Service was friendly.

Best advice is to use the regular boats so you can hop and hop off at your leisure. This tour was all very rushed with no time to look around and explore. Easy to do yourself and the boats are pretty regular

Visited 3 islands on the trip. Guide gave us facts as we travelled between islands, thought we were on a English speaking tour however this include Italian, Spanish and French renditions of the same facts making the narrative very disjointed.
On Murano we were shepherded into a glass blowing area where we witness a short display then taken for the hard sell in the showroom. Sure the cost of glass wear is influenced by the number of salesmen. Then out in the cold to a tiny church, luckily found a nice cafe on the way there.
Burano was much nicer, houses of many colours. Lots of shops with no hard sell in them.
Torcello, I am sure, would be wonderful on a sunny day but when raining it is not a good place to be. We spent time getting a coffee and some food as we had 45 minutes to waste.
On the return trip that takes 40 minutes we were left to ourselves, no narrative at all... feel we could have been given some history of Venice on this leg but only silence.

Would we recommend this trip, not sure may just be better to get public transport and control your own destiny.

We had plenty of time and thought to skip the private tour and the high cost and do this great excursion on our own. It was a way to get away from the busy main island, so we took a vaporetto and drove from island to island. This took us the whole day but we enjoyed it a lot.

Murano - Glass work, and we visited a couple of workshops.

The Burano – Lace work. Colorful and sweet houses!

Torcello – Historical place. Not so touristy yet, so peaceful.

Take your time and enjoy these peaceful islands with charming canals, houses and friendly people. The best way to discover a bit more of Venice.
