“Room with a view”
Reviewed 19 June 2012

I travelled with my mum to Venice for her 80th birthday and to start a Mediterranean Cruise. We stayed in the Westin Europa which provided the most wonderful start to our holiday. A little tricky to find and involved humphing a suitcase over a bridge and along little allyways but it was worth it. The hotel was lovely, right on the waterfront. We had a room with juliet balcony, a stunning view and enjoyed watching the gondoliers and cruise ships and architecture from the comfort of our very comfortable room. It was appropriately traditional european style rather than the more modern Westins we have stayed in in N. America but the same comfy beds!!
The management had even put a lovely birthday cake in the room for our arrival. A very nice touch.
The room was lovely, the staff were very helpful and we loved our stay.

My wife and I recently spent three days at the Westin Europa & Regina in Venice. In short, our stay was magnificent! In particular, the staff was warm and attentive, even in the face of what was a very busy week for them. My suggestion is to stay in the newly renovated section of the hotel--the refurbishing has been done exceptionally well. We stayed in room 619 which faces the Grand Canal and the Santa Maria della Salute basilica--a fantastic room with a great view. My final suggestion is that you show the staff the kindness you seek--and they will return it manifold!!

Room Tip: Seek room in the newly renovated section of the hotel, facing the Grand Canal if at all possible.

2 weeks ago we where on holiday in Venice at the Westin Hotel Europe & Regina.
With a perfect location, 5 min. from the St. Marcus square, right next to the Grand Canal. On the back of the hotel you have one of the best shopping streets of Venice with all the well know brands. We had a very good welcoming even in our own language (Dutch). The room was immediately ready and we arrived at the hotel at 9 am ! We got even a breakfast !
Our room was a lovely Premium deluxe room on the 4th floor with views on the grand canal. Every day we received fresh fruit in our room.
Breakfast was above the standards. Very good service you may say. Now and then there is a party or a business meeting on the terrace for a short while during day time.
The hotel has wonderful views on the grand canal. Very practical situated hotel in Venice. We took a taxe service from and to the airport (cost 110€ !), but an adventure on his own.

The location of this property is very special and if you book a grand canal view room its truly magical and in my view worth the considerable premium.
However the service has an arrogant air.Its not bad but it really could be better. We arrived early ,our room was not ready.OK thats not unusual but I informed the desk clerk we would be in the bar and could he let us know when our room was available. That didnt work.We eventually checked in and he showed us to our lovely room.I asked him if we needed to book for dinner."I dont know ask the concierge was the rather poor response." He then stood there expecting a tip which was not forthcoming. He flounced out!
Later in the trip a stay in an excellent Hotel in Rome showed how it should be done.Come on
Westin "up your game"

Room Tip: Grand canal view worth the premium.

The location of this hotel is excellent. 5 minutes by walking to the famous Markus Square.
But in my opinion the hotel is overpriced and the room quality is average. We booked for Premium Deluxe Rooms, through a German tour operator. First of all had to wait till 03.00 p.m. to get the room. The hotel assigned us the wrong room type ( Deluxe Room Only ). After several discussions with the reception we finally managed to get a Premium Deluxe Room which is more modern and renovated. The reception did not even apologized and it took nearly an additional hour to move into the new room. It seems if you book through a tour operator your are a 2nd class customer. All other customers with Starwood Membership Cards or Direct bookings through the hotels web page received their rooms much earlier than we. The Front Desk Staff was very arrogant and not very polite to us. It seems they really looked down as we are holding a voucher......For a 5-star hotel on this pricing level, highly
unacceptable. I myself travel quite a bit, and stayed in many 5-star hotels before. But this was by far the worst experience.
To experience the breakfast on the open air terrace with view on the Grand Canal is just awesome and very beautiful. Breakfast Service was totally the opposite and was great.

Room Tip: Well, the location is great if you want to experience Venice. Price level is very high and I suggest...
