“What a stunning place for our Wedding Breakfast!”
Reviewed 13 June 2012

We eloped to Venice in April 2012 to get married, and were looking for somewhere to dine that was Venetian, yet stylish and welcoming. The Westin Europa more than exceeded our expectations - considering we were only a small group of 6 and sat down quite late (the kitchens closed at 2pm and we arrived at 1.45!), they still treated us with total respect and polite efficiency.
The food was absolutely SUPERB and the wine kept flowing...we chose a set menu with wine and wedding cake at an extremely reasonable price considering we sat on the terrace overlooking the Grand Canal...!!
We had Bellini cocktails for starters, white wine with the fish course, red wine with the meat course, and prosecco with our wedding cake, which was absolutely beautiful and served so imaginatively with flower petals and roses.
The staff were wonderful, even presenting us with some complimentary miniature bottles of olive oil as they had our initial 'M' on them, which we found quite funny!

Many thanks - we will definitely eat here again on our next visit to Venice.

My husband and I stayed post Celebrity Cruise on the 30th May for 1 night and I have to say that I thought the hotel and staff were lovely. The location was fantastic. Everywhere we went in the hotel we were greeted by friendly staff. Every single member we passed said hello or good morning etc. The receptionist we had was a very professional gentleman and helped with any query we had perfectly.

When we entered our room we were wowed. I had been really worried that we would be in broom cupboard of a room for what we paid but it was huge and gorgeous. The bed was enormous. It must have been 8 foot and the linens were wonderful. Marshmallow pillows were really heavenly! Bathroom was huge too. Brown marble, double sinks, robes, slippers etc

The room, which I now believe was a Premium deluxe, was spacious and had lovely furniture. It had 2 very tall arched windows with french doors and a little balcony which made the room very airy and light. I think perhaps we had been upgraded as we were past SPG members having stayed Sheraton hotels in Phuket & Krabi (Thailand). No we didnt have a Grand Canal view but the price we paid reflected this. The only niggle for us was the building works on the property across the courtyard from our room.It was very noisy but it stopped at tea time and didnt affect our sleep whatsoever. We were in and out all day anyway. It may bug some people though.

Unfortunately our cheap deal did not include breakfast but as we were leaving for an early flight home we just ate at the airport. We did not drink in the hotel as the prices were very expensive. It was 10 euros for a Coke! The bar and the outside areas were really nice and I would love to have sat out on the classy terrace with a glass of champagne or at the wonderful bar but couldnt justify the prices.I believe however the prices are the norm for a 5 star hotel in Venice. There are many little snack bars and cafes in the areas around the hotel.

We loved Venice and the Vaporetto system but getting to any hotel in Venice is very difficult with lots of luggage unless of course you can afford 100-200 euros for a water taxi and arrive in style via the Grand canal. We used the people mover (1 euro) 1 stop from the cruise terminal to Plaza del Roma and the vaporetto for a boat trip down the grand Canal to St Marks Square. We got the water bus (blue line)from St Marks for 15 euros to the airport the next day. This does take however 1 hour 20 minutes but was pleasant enough.

Pre cruise we got the airport bus from the airport. The blue ATVO bus is only 5 euros and is the most passenger friendly of the buses.

I can wholly recommend the hotel for its location and style but would book the best room you can afford. I have only rated the hotel as 4 stars because of the drinks prices.

Room Tip: Premium deluxe doubles are huge!

This is another Westin hotel where old world elegance shines. The rooms are recently redecorated, and some are still looking for their final touches. The variability of rooms is significant with some rooms large, airy, with high ceilings, while others have lower ceilings and are more of a cozy feel (PC for cramped). If you like hard beds, you will love those offered and if you are looking for softer beds, just ask the front desk or housekeeping to place a coverlet over the mattress. Likewise with the pillows, if you would like foam, you need to ask as the ones in the room are feather pillows.

The location is perfect. A two minute walk from San Marco square, yet quiet, even while overlooking the Grand Canal and the Church of XXXX. The layout can be confusing at first so make sure you understand whether you are in the Europa or the Regina building and which elevator is the most convenient.

Assuring that your room includes breakfast is essential since the prices in the restaurant are extremely high, could be the highest I have ever seen. Continental buffet is €24 and full buffet is €45, and that is not a typo. A la carte is available but also pricy. The buffet includes the regular scrambled eggs, meats, tomatoes and potatoes, a large selection of fruits and cereals, a full selection of breads and pastries, plus a large selection of cured meats and cheese. Overall it is a lovely buffet. For dinner, I highly recommend going off-premises and the Concierge can recommend numerous restaurants (I HIGHLY recommend Il Paradiso (I have a separate review at that URL) over the Rialto Bridge) since the hotel's restaurant will cost well over €125 per person.

If you arrive in Venice by car there is a central building where all of the rental agencies have offices. The trick is not getting killed crossing the street to hire a water taxi (which I highly recommend), which costs €60. If you are arriving or departing from Marco Polo airport a water taxi to/from the airport is €110, plus if you keep them waiting they will add €10 per fifteen minutes.

Management is terrific and are there to assist in any way possible. One of the most guest-centric staff I have experienced. We are already planning our next visit and we are glad that we do not need to think of where to stay, we really like this hotel.

What a location!! Superb rooms, excellent furnishings and the service was perfect! Travelling Travelling from India, with 2 small children, aged 4.5 and 2.5, our special thanks to Atiilio Dalla Mura, the front desk manager at the hotel. Special gift bags for the kids, complimentary champagne and fruit platter (spg platinum), and went out of the way to plan our Venice Itinerary, suggestions for food etc..

Very conveniently located on the Grand Canal. Breakfast overlooking the stunning Santa Maria della Salute is one of the best breakfast settings ever!

Note: If travelling with toddlers, the hotel does not have any strollers for rent!

Room Tip: Room 212, two level room with a pull out sofa bed and furnished with a 200 yr Murano glass chandelie...

We recently stayed to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary , the front desk reception was poor we were sent (not escorted to our room) and we had been given the wrong keys. The staff were very flustered because a large wedding monopolized their attention .The service did improve somewhat after the lengthy wedding (3days) .
I realize that Venice is inured against many problems but with some exceptions the reception staff were off their game.
We had a room with a spectacular view 556
