“Lovely Romantic Hotel”
Reviewed 27 March 2012

Venice was a surprise birthday trip for my husband and what a lovely surprise it was!
The hotel is in a great location, just minutes away from a water bus stop.
The room we had was on the smaller side but felt so luxurious, bathroom was a good size and nicely done. Breakfast was just fantastic with lots of choices and complementary afternoon tea in a red room was just great:-)
I hope we will be back!

Stayed here for 3 nights with my wife. Where upgraded on the first night to a suite and received a complimentay bottle of prosecco and card for my birthday on the second day - both very nice touches. The standard room for the last 2 nights was small as mentioned by other reviewers but was very clean and had everything we needed - to be honest you dont need to spend that much time in the room in Venice anyway! The breakfast was very good and was clearly freshly prepared each day. The staff were particuarly good at Palazzo Paruta with the reception staff very helpful and welcoming. The hotel is located about a 5 minute walk from St Marco so avoiding the crowds and worst of the inflated prices! It is ideal for couples wanting that long weekend away and we would certainly return again.

After browsing the available 'boutique' hotels we settled on the Paruta and it turned out to be a good choice. Easy to get to using route #2 from the airport and only 5 min walk from S.Angelo stop. It is ideally situated in the San Marco area for all the major attractions, being very easy to navigate to and from. Our only issue was that we booked our trip through a 'latedeals' agency and we got the room (156) which turned out to be the smallest in the hotel and located by the kitchen so guaranteed to get an early wakeup. Although having a nice decor, like all the rooms, there is no view and you will have to live out of your suitcase. We did ask for an upgrade but would have ended up paying extra so we decided to use the money for our daily needs (good job too as Venice is QUITE EXPENSIVE), but we did find a nice bottle of champagne in our room courtesy of the hotel. Breakfast was the continental/frankfurter-egg style etc and the staff very friendly and attentative. The free afternoon tea/coffee/cake was a nice addition. Overall a very attractive hotel and worth a look at.

Room Tip: Pay a bit extra for one of the larger rooms.

Fabulous location. Lovely decor and courtyard. Breakfast room and food spectacular. Only draw back was we had a attic room with low beams. Being tall we had to keep stooping.

Room Tip: avoid floor 5 which is the attic rooms
