“A beautiful, modern, exceptional hotel!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 April 2012

We could not have asked for a better hotel to stay at in Venice! The location is on the Grand Canal across from the Piazza San Marco. This area is quieter and has many great galleries and shops as well as being right near the Peggy Guggenheim Collection. It is an easy walk to Piazza San Marco or an even easier Vaparetto ride (water bus)... there is also the traghetto which is a gondola to take you across to the other side. The hotel is the only modern, "boutique" type hotel I found in my search and it did not disappoint. Housed in a beautiful old palace, the hotel is thoroughly modern, well designed and comfortable inside. We had 2 rooms which I believe were amongst the smaller rooms but more than ample with oversized beautiful baths. The lobby and dining room are chic and elegant and overlook the canal. Having breakfast in the all white dining room with the canal unfolding in front of you is an experience. The breakfast was fantastic and the service in the dining room was superb. The front desk staff, especially Emanuelle and Mauro made the trip all the more enjoyable by arranging restaurant reservations and for a boat trip to Murano. A water taxi picked us up at the hotel's dock and took us without charge, and back, to the island where we were given a demonstration of the glass being made. Of course the hope is one will buy something and one cant resist buying something even it is a small souvenir item so this is a worthwhile activity (all in under 90 mins)....All the staff were friendly, helpful and would know which keys to give us when we returned back to the hotel. We were with two 14 year old nephews who were very impressed by this stylish hotel as were we....The staff even helped arrange for a special "thank you" cake that our nephews presented to us on our last day. I would return in a heartbeat to this hotel and recommend it to anyone visiting Venice.

This is my fifth trip to Venice and this is my favorite hotel. We had a grand canal suite that was huge- a double height ceiling living room with balconies on the canal and all windows for canal viewing. The bedroom is decent sized and though the bathroom is a tad small, it was fine. There was also a powder room in the living room which is great when there are two people. The location is awesome- it is 15min to St Marks and it's a pleasant walk. It was nice to get away from the crowds around St Marks. The hotel has a pretty garden entry with tables for sitting outside, there is a small bar inside the hotel with three tables directly on the canal and there was always one available before dinner for a drink. The service was outstanding. The concierge made great suggestions when I emailed him in advance our restaurant choices and they followed up on everything. I have only positive things to day about the hotel- I will stay here each year I am in Venice.

The hotel is fabulous! We stayed in a Jr Suite with a view of the Grand Canal in March. It is located on the Grand Canal right next to Santa Maria della Salute and close to the Peggy Guggenheim museum. The hotel has its own dock which water taxis use to pickup and drop off passengers. Very convenient if, like us, you are traveling with large bags.

The reception and check-in was very pleasant . The staff were warm and friendly. Being a small hotel they try to greet everyone by name. A complimentary bottle of champagne and plate of fruits were presented shortly after we settled in the room. The room had two small balconies directly overlooking the Grand Canal. The view from the balconies were as good as it gets in Venice. Venice is constantly being repaired as its foundations slowly sinks, there are cranes everywhere and buildings covered for construction. The building across the canal from us was such a case.

The suite was very nicely appointed with very high ceilings - 30ft tall I think. Spacious, fresh, bright and modern are words that come to mind. The gold tiled bathroom won me over! WiFi is an extra charge. (Tip: get a Telecom Italia TIM prepaid SIM card for free incoming calls and SMS and 30 days free unlimited internet for 12 Euros). Breakfast is included. The breakfast fare was pretty good and comparable to other 5 star hotels we stayed at. Of course, Italian espresso is excellent. Ask for a complimentary refill if you need more to wake up. In the afternoon, sit at the outside tables on the hotel dock and watch the boats go by, have tea to keep you going until dinnertime - 8pm at the earliest.

From the hotel there are three ways to get to St Marks Square: you can walk there in 20 minutes across the Accademia bridge, take a 2 minute/one stop water bus ride from the Salute bus stop, or hop on the Maria Del Giglio gondola crossing service for 50 cents/person. We chose to walk there most days and take the bus back. The walk to St Marks takes you past so many beautiful shops, bridges, canals, and piazzas. Venice is such a photogenic city, getting lost is the best way to experience it, every turn is a delight.

We had a wonderful time and the hotel is one that we will always remember.

Room Tip: When in Venice, get a room with a view

Beautiful, traditional exterior and contemporary luxury interior. Friendly, helpful staff. Convenient, quiet location with easy access to main attractions. Canal rooms have great views along the Grand Canal. We stayed in a split level luxury suite which was spacious and well furnished, although the bathroom was fairly small. Breakfast was very good. The private jetty is ideal for trips and airport arrival/departures via water taxis and the courtyard garden is very pleasant and great for relaxing in the afternoons. Several 'local' restaurants close by in Dosoduro are worth visiting and offer better quality and value than San Marco. A luxury hotel, ideal for a special holiday.

A very stylish hotel to stay in, good location with the river taxi only one stop away from St Marks. Staff generally helpful around the hotel. Rooms of a good size and stylishly designed, very high ceilings. Bathroom a tad on the bling side with a strange, dark shower/bath combination, with steps leading up into it. Food generally good for lunch and snacks. Breakfast offering was above average, busy most days. You are required to leave your room key at reception when you go out of the hotel - people may not always be used to this, but it was fine and had no security concerns with our room. I must commend the waitress we had one evening for a light dinner - outstanding and touching service - she was partially deaf, but she gave 100% care, concern and effort to her job with impeccable attention to detailed service from taking our order, ensuring it was totally correct, setting our table and giving us the most wonderful, warm, genuine smile when we ordered the house gelati selection and upon departure. Venice - well, some love it, I got over the romance for the place in a few hours after arrival. Eating out is expensive, it's a complex city to navigate, lots of architecture and gondolas to look at, St Marks is not that impressive and a lot of scaffolding around. Shopping isn't that great either! Water taxi to hotel is 60 euros...
