A fascinating & educational tour of the ecology issues facing Venice. Lucca, our guide, was excellent. Highly recommended for curious adults. I would not recommend for young children.

This is a tour that transforms how I look at Venice. It is great to look around and to understand the forces at work on foundations, pilings, and the people of the city. Their ability to adapt is really impressive: from smartphone Apps to raised walkways to sacrificial stucco and much more. Our guide had graphics on his Microsoft Surface Pro, maps, and drawings to illustrate the topics he was discussing. He was flexible with his route to accommodate our needs. Now when I see a square with what looks like a well in the center, I know what I was used for. This was a great tour - totally worth your time and money. Go ahead early in your stay, it will enrich your visit.

The half day Architectural tour was led by an architect who was not only knowledgeable but could address many of our queries. An ideal opportunity to experience Venice bridges, alley ways and squares while learning about the architecture of Venice, including the historical and social context. Venice became not just beautiful buildings, which we learnt a lot about, but became one with a powerful past, one of commerce, noble families, social cohesion and more. It has provided a framework for further cultural explorations. Fantastic!

To research a Vivaldi related project we booked a private tour through Context Travel with one of their guides. Andrea was wonderful! He is a very talented musician, composer and conductor himself so in addition to his broad knowledge of Vivaldi's life and times, he could also discuss details of the music and how changes to instruments changed the style of composers. Andrea took us through the Pieta church and honestly explained that it was built a few years after Vivaldi's death (a fact the Pieta doesn't brag about) but that Vivaldi may have had some input in the design. (Later in the week we attended a Vivaldi concert in the church and indeed the accoustics are phenomenal.). Andrea then took us to see the various houses in which Vivaldi lived. He also offered to show us period instruments, which we had already done. Though this didn't stop him from asking a friend of his we ran into during our tour to show us his 17th century cello! I was very happy with the tour and the time and effort Andrea had put into his preparations!

Dear Zoxil,

Thank you for taking time to write a review of your Context Tour in Venice!

It was absolutely our pleasure to arrange your Custom Vivaldi Walk. We love digging deeper into the cities where we operate and letting our docents' specialities shine. Andrea is a musician and choirmaster himself so was perfectly suited to guide you.

Thank you for bringing your passion for Vivaldi our way and allowing us to create an experience for you in Venice that goes beyond the usual tourist highlights.

We hope to see you in another Context city in the future!

Happy travels,

Our tour of the Venice Market was guided by Cecilia Sitran who provided wonderful insight into the Venetian food scene. Great service.

We took the architecture tour of venice and it was fascinating. It was guided by a art historian living in Venice. I would highly recommend it for anyone interested in art history or what makes Venice so unique. We covered a lot of ground including St Mark's Sq and off the beaten path. We found it fascinating and gave us a better appreciation of Venetian buildings when touring around on our own. We'll definitely do another Context tour when in Venice (we did 2 others in Rome... all excellent).
