Donna Irene was created because of the owners' passion about wine. As a result, the balance is clearly tilted towards and extraordinary wine collection, with food coming in second, as accompaniment for wine tasting. The wine list is extensive, focused 90+ % on Italy's major wine regions (Piemonte, Tuscany, Friuli, Trentino, Veneto, Marche, Umbria, Campania, Sicily, etc) with France coming in a distant second, Germany a distant third, and token items from Spain. The food is very good, but not at the same level as the selection of wines. There is a good, but not outstanding selection of antipasti, pastas and main dishes. They are, in general, well-prepared, but they are not memorable. Donna Irene is best enjoyed tasting wine, while enjoying a few dishes of good food.

I was their with a couple of friends. We ordered a broad variaty of dishes - all came in very good. The presentation was quite straightforward - a bit of finishing touch seemed to miss.

We were recommended this restaurant by our hotel.Unfortunately on the night we visited they were one chef down in the kitchen.Things like this happen all the time but it is how you deal with it that makes the difference. The foh staff did not tell us until we had waited over an hour for our first course. My pasta was luke warm, totally unacceptable in Italy. After waiting another hour for our main course, staff avoided us and we were forced to ask where our main courses were. This time my roasted sardines were barely warm and on a cold plate.I pointed this out to the waiter and he offered to change it.This is the point when you either accept what you have been given or spoil an evening out.I ate part of the meal on another cold plate. When the bill came it included all items.I complained to the waiter who seemed without the power to make such decisions. The owner appeared by chance but showed no interest in sorting the issue out.Eventually, both courses were removed from the bill but after two hours of luke warm food and very poor customer service I feel unable to recommend this restaurant for not fronting up from the start.

A nice fine dining restaurant. Outside seat is available. The aubergine antipasti is soft and melt in the mouth. Try lamb with crusted pistachio. Sensational. Don't forget a glass of prosecco.

This is, simply, the best. The garden is quite and beautiful, the food is amazing, the wine incredible and the service is always nice. For sure you pay the quality, but it is just worth it. Definitely recommended!
