Bythe station, Venice is only 33 mins by fast train (Euros 7 return!), this hotel is ideal. Despite dubious area around station, once inside it is a quiet oasis. Bed comfortable, shower powerful and excellent breakfast for a cheapish hotel. Just remember to ask for Espresso at Breakfast as the coffee in the urn is rubbish instant stuff!

Stayed here for 3 nights and pleasantly surprised at the quality and choice at breakfast. A minor irritation was the noisy aircon but overall we had a very pleasant stay. Not advisable for females to be walking around the area at night which becomes quite seedy and threatening. McDonalds next door saves walking into the centre for dinner when exhausted after a hard day's sightseeing in Venice.

Centre has some fabulous shops and restaurants and is about 20 mins walk or a 3 minute bus or tram ride.

The main attraction was its close proximity to the Station, but once inside the hotel was a delightful surprise. Staff were friendly and efficient and very helpful.

The recent redecoration is 'modern Italian' but the furnishings and fittings are excellent, and the hotel was quiet, despite close proximity to traffic. The breakfast was excellent and the price was really good value. No hesitation recommending Grand Italia.

We were in Padua (Padova) for a short time and so we chose a hotel that was close to the train station as we were travelling onto Venice. The Hotel Grand Italia is rated 4 stars so we thought that it would be fine but it actually had a more pleasant ambiance than we expected. The rooms were quite large and the beds were very comfortable. They had free WiFi and television internet, a minibar and mules for our comfort. The buffet breakfast was included in the room rate and provided a good variety of choices in an elegant setting. The multilingual staff were helpful. We'd stay there again.
