We visited Milan for a city break and booked the ibis as accommodation in the centre of Milan is extortionate. This ibis is in a prime location, only a few minutes from a metro station and across the road from a cheap, cheerful cafe serving breakfast, coffees and drinks. It's a clean, spacious room were perfect for crashing in. Yes the air con does go off at 1am but it goes off everywhere at 1am, it's part of the law in Milan. Thoughtful when you think about it. The heat is not unbearable at all and by that time we were asleep. A great place to stay on a city break with links to the inner city.

We stayed here just for 1 night, fortunately. The rooms were like all Ibis which is okay but a constant smell of cigarettes in the corridor was unbearable and unacceptable. The only sign with 'do not smoke here' was in the tiny restaurant. Furthermore, the rooms need an urgent renovation and breakfast was very limited in choice and quantity.

The Ibis Ca' Granda is situated within a few minutes walk to the Tram Line and the Metro Network. These are both inexpensive ways of exploring the city and offer a slow route above ground or a much faster route below ground. It's well worth spending a bit of time to understand the network and a smartphone app is available to look at before you even leave home! Negotiating the ticket machines may take a little while on your first trip out as there are numerous options on the type of ticket most suited to our needs.

The hotel itself is pleasant and the staff helpful. However, don't expect instant attention upon arrival at reception as this is frequently busy and sometimes staffed by only one person. There seems to be quite a bit of 'paper work' for the staff to complete and while they do operate as swiftly as possible, I did notice that on occasions when two staff looked after the desk, it was much more efficient. Although many travellers may be aware of this, don't forget that there is a 'city tax' to be paid upon arrival and ours was in the region of 50 Euros for a seven night stay.

The rooms are pleasant enough and benefit from good air conditioning. However, although this may be the Ibis Standard, we were disappointed to find no access to in-room tea/coffee making facilities. There is a cold drinks and snack machine in the reception area, but no hot drinks machine. The hotel boasts of it's 24 hour bar but we did not wish to try this out at say 2.00am!

Meals are available at breakfast time, lunchtime and in the evening. There is a limited choice but what was on offer was pleasing and they specialise in offering burgers 'built up' according to your own selection of 'fillings'. The staff were both friendly and helpful on every visit we went to the restaurant. Indeed, although it may seem a little invidious to single out one member of staff, I feel it is warranted on this occasion. On our first visit to the restaurant for an evening meal, we discovered a young Italian lady who actually came from Rome, but, had spent some time studying in the UK. Quite apart from her excellent restaurant and customer care skills, she gave us much excellent advice as first timers in both Italy and Milan and undoubtedly made our stay in both the hotel and Milan a much more enjoyable experience. I guess it's unlikely she'll read this, but, just in case, thanks again from the couple from Northumberland in the UK!!!

In summary, the Ibis offered a comfortable stay at a sensible price and if we ever visit Milan again in the future, it would certainly be on our list of ;possible hotels.

My wife and I stayed at this hotel in June 2017. At 1:00 am the A/C stopped working and the front desk advice was that we should open the window. It was impossible to sleep due to the high temperature both inside and outside. The next day I talked to the manager (Paolo) who did not care about the issue and just blamed it to the A/C company and justified himself saying that the Ibis hotel was environmental friendly so they programmed the A/C to be turned off at times. We paid for a room with A/C and did not get what we paid for. They also offer a false warranty and assure they will do everything possible to make your stay comfortable. This was not true. Nobody care about the issue, and they did not want to fulfill this promise. Very bad service. I will never stay at a Ibis hotel again. The other issue was breakfast, very poor quality. Cold food, no eggs options, only cold boiled ones (ice cold that is) probably from the day before. Not recommended at all
