Owner description: The Duomo, symbol of Milan in the world, is one of the largest cathedrals in Italy and Europe. Patrimony of Milanese people and humanity, over the centuries it has been expressing, with its magnificence, the devotion of humanity toward the Divine, involving future generations in an endless commitment. The Milan Cathedral, besides being an artistic monument, is a privileged place of prayer, deeply linked to the memory and teachings of the Bishops who succeeded on St. Ambrose's chair, and to the history of the millions of worshippers who, every year, gather in this place to celebrate the Sacred Mysteries. The Cathedral is the mother Church of the Diocese, having a symbolic role of exemplarity both in the life of the city worship, and in relation with the Diocese activity.

“A must see attraction in Milan!”

A breathtaking cathedral with flying buttresses. Though it was quite crowded when we visited there still it felt quite great to simply hang around the square in front of the Duomo. Entry into the cathedral is free but you need to be dressed properly. You can also use the elevator to the roof for a fee. This place can be easily reached by a Metro.

“worth to take a look”
Reviewed 4 July 2014

I have to say it is the most wonderful place in Milan. Actually if you go downtown in Milan, you can't miss Duomo, it locates in the center of the city, linked by main streets and the big shopping mall.

Walk around and in Duomo it will take you around 20 min, the inside is big with fantastic colorful windows and paintings, unfortunately all description in side are in Italy. If you like you can pay a little fee to the top level, from there you can bird view the city.

“Simply Beautiful”
Reviewed 4 July 2014

I got off the mtro stop DUOMO and climbed the stairs to the plaza. When all of a sudden you see this amazing Church right before your eyes with the Victor Emmanuel Building to your left. This is the most beautiful view that I have seen when exciting a metro station so far. The Duomo is majestic in white and the inside is another gem.

“Magnificent facade”
Reviewed 3 July 2014

Absolutely glorious building, facade has to be the best of any cathedral I've ever seen anywhere, the detail is incredible. Slightly disturbing to be greeted at the entrance by armed guards searching bags but apparently it's normal there. Have to say that the inside, while enormous and awe inspiring is somewhat disappointing as it's very dark. Don't miss the trip to the roof - there is a very civilised lift if you don't fancy the stairs. As you stand outside facing the Duomo walk down the street on the left and enter the department store, take lift or escalator to cafe/restaurant on top floor and get a table outside - eye level with roof of Duomo! Expensive but worth it and you can just have a coffee or cold drink. We were incredibly lucky to be there for a free concert by Lang Lang playing Rachmaninov Concerto no. 2 in the plaza outside the Duomo - sublime end to our visit.
