I travelled in early June alone and as an eco-traveller staying somewhere that is green and eco-friendly yet FABULOUS is very important to me! Hotel Scala Milano is that.
The location is very close to the underground, 5 minutes walk from Duomo and all the nearby shops and very nice restaurants and cafes! The hotel takes its inspiration from the nearby Theatre Scala, so it is laced with music notes in the decor, dramatic draping velvet curtains, luxurious feel to each part of the hotel, and the best part was the live music at breakfast and lunch!
Some of the things that really stood out to me was the fact that every member of staff that I spoke to, spoke very good English, as well as being very helpful and seemed that they really enjoyed working there and in hospitality in general - which are all important to me being a fussy customer.
Riva is their all-knowing concierge fairy, who knows Milan inside out - from the most extravagant 'secret society' restaurants, to the free secret exhibitions that will make you see that there is more to Milan than just Duomo, shopping, and The Last Supper. She is beaming with energy, and is such a gorgeous person who took her time to tell me things I should do in the short 2 days that I was visiting, based on my interests. She only works part-time so be sure to catch...I travelled in early June alone and as an eco-traveller staying somewhere that is green and eco-friendly yet FABULOUS is very important to me! One of my favorite parts besides it being eco-friendly, stylish and full of amazing staff is their daily rooftop aperitivo that they do. It looks like a modern jungle with lounge music, overlooking the city skyline. The bite-sized food is served in recycled boxes from tomatoes by the bubbliest waitress Sara, who also makes killer cocktails! Such a nice vibe, I really enjoyed chilling there catching up on work! It would be somewhere where I would go weekly if I lived in Milan with some friends to hangout.
Being vegan, I really loved their salad bar at lunch where you can make your own salad with lots of toppings, some of which comes from their own rooftop garden like tomatoes, broccoli, and various herbs etc. All whilst listening to live classical music, bliss.
I really enjoyed my stay and still moved from all the people I met, and how welcomed and cherished that they made me feel. I would definitely recommend this place not only because it is good for the environment, but also because they all made me feel like I was visiting family, which is so hard to come by especially in luxury hotels as staff tends to come across inferior to you.
Unforgettable stay!More
