One of our highlights while staying in Varenna. Promptly picked up at 10 a.m. Upon arrival at the Ristorante we were offered coffee, expresso, etc., and a small assortment of pastries. A short time later the wine came out. I had white which was excellent. The red was also very good. The crafts of wine never were empty and over the next 5 hours everyone enjoy good times learning from Merino. His demonstrations were superb. We learned lots of technics that were unique to him and that we will incorporate in our kitchen back home. That day he made a pasta, risotto and Veal. It was all outstanding. In short, this was a wonderful day with wonderful people and a highlight. We highly recommend this experience. Final note - the price was extremely reasonable for what we got.

Very informative for the foodie and novice alike. We had 5 couples and a family of 4 with two young girls, and everyone participated and loved the food. We learned to make gnocchi in gorgonzola cream sauce, torteloni with ricotta, in a tomato sauce, and a roast loin of veal wrapped in prosciutto and a reduction jus. They arranged to pick us up at the ferry terminal, and dropped us back off there. There were cookies and cappuccino, wine, antipasto and lemoncello leading up to the main meal. Entertaining and informative.

Had a wonderful dinner here on our visit to Varenna. We did not do the cooking class which takes place during the daytime. This is a family/chef-owned restaurant and the owner will pick you up in town if you do not have a car and drive you up the hill to the restaurant. The chef prepares a few options to choose from and we had a wonderful prize fixe dinner. Really enjoyed meeting the chef after dinner. The mushroom and truffle risotto was to die for.

My wife and I booked this cookery day on a friends recommendation. Thank god we listened. This was the highlight of our week at the beautiful Lake Como. As many other reviews have mentioned, chef Moreno is an absolute star. In addition to being a wonderfully talented chef he is very passionate about his family and region history which he enthralled us all with his recollections and tales of past generations.
Other reviews will tell you all you need to know about the basics for getting there etc etc, what you need to know is you will have a fantastic day, learn so much about Italian food, be treated as a guest rather than a customer and leave wanting to rebook . We certainly did.
grazie a chef, è stato un piacere

My husband and I attended Chef Moreno's cooking class in September of 2017. Moreno and his family are incredibly charming and welcoming. We spent the better part of our day learning to cook traditional and delicious meals with Moreno. During the demonstration, you are provided with wines, meats, cheeses, and breads. Afterwards your main course is the food prepared (which you have an opportunity to help make!) Moreno shared the recipes with us and is a time in Italy that we will always cherish. Thank you!
