The park has to be visited on a guided tour of which there are 2 each day, morning and afternoon. The tours only take place if the weather is good. Tickets are sold at the tourist information office in the base of the tower. On the day that we tried the morning tour was not taking place as the weather was a bit uncertain. We had to return later to see if the weather was good enough for the afternoon tour, luckily it was. The villa and grounds were bequeathed to the Rockefeller Institute with a stipulation that the public has access to the gardens. We had an excellent guide. It was the views and the fact that this was probably the site of Pliny's villa that really made taking this tour worthwhile. The tour takes about 2 hours with quite a bit of uphill walking. Comfortable shoes or sandals are recommended.

Despite being part of a very upmarket and luxurious hotel we were made to feel welcome for lunch. We ate outside overlooking the pool and lake and had the best pizza we have ever eaten (we have had quite a few!). Advisable to book if you want to eat outside.

We visited the park with a guide at 11.00 today. We were glad we put our name down the day before, as the tour was full. The guide was great and her explanation of the history of the villa and park and other aspects of a Bellagio was fascinating.
You don’t need to worry about the walk, as
although it is uphill, the guide stops
frequently to talk to the group. The
Views are absolutely incredible. It costs 9€ each. Take water with you. There are no toilets.

We decided on a whim to go along for the guided tour around the park of Villa Serbelloni in Bellagio and it was a good choice! The guide we had was excellent, she was very knowledgeable not only about the park and the villa, but also the local area. If you are visitng or staying in Bellagio, don't miss this tour. It is very reasonably priced anx tgd views fron the top were fantastic!

The first thing for a visitor to be aware of is that tours of the Villa Serbelloni don't actually include the villa, which is off-limits owing to its being part of the Rockefeller Foundation's study centers. Guided tours of the gardens, which encompass a vast amount of acreage on the surrounding hill, are available only at specific times, and tickets must be obtained from a hard-to-identify office at the very rear of the main square. The tour ultimately results in some spectacular views of the full extent of Lake Como, but getting there can be strenuous for those not in the best of shape, despite the well-paved, graded walk. The payoff, however, is more than worth the effort, and docents do an excellent job of relating the history of the property from the Renaissance to the modern era.
