“A modern take on Mediterranean cuisine and Italian classics, excellently done”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 August 2011

We found L'insolita zuppa quite by accident while on holiday in Santa Margherita, and we liked the look, so we (family of 2 adults and 2 rather choosy young boys) went in. I and my younger boy had nan's ravioli, my wife had the fish of the day and the my elder boy had lamb chops, while we had ratatouille and potatoes with yogurt as contorni. Everything was very well done, and the service was friendly and efficient. We had the crema catalana and the chocolate dessert for pudding, and, again, both were excellently done. A bottle of Ramoino Rossese for the adults (there's a very good wine list), plenty of water (it was hot!) and a couple of coffees and the bill was around 100 euros. This was good value, given the quality of the cooking.
There was a nice atmosphere and the restaurant was busy, so word gets around!
Recommended.

“Delicious, nice atmosphere!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 August 2011

As the restaurant is a little bit off-center, we would not have found it alone. (5-10 minutes walking from the city center) Our hotel recommended it and we were very happy to go there. The restaurant is lovely, as well as the service. The staff is very nice, always available for you. We had pasta and fish dishes with excellent italian flavourings, not only traditional but also original.

“Delicious and affordable and the happiest surprise of our trip”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 July 2011

While this resturant was #1 on Trip Advisor we had our doubts. Both Trip Advisor and the Hotel gave us needlessly complicated directions to get there and the fact is that it was a 10 minute walk with one turn. The resturnat itself was inviting though almost entirely empty. We feared the worst and were sorry we didn't eat at another one that we had passed along the way. We both had starters - Bread Salad and a pancake like pasta covered with pesto - both were terrific. Our main courses were grilled lamb chops ( perfect) and a grilled steak with three kinds of salt ( out of this world) the deserts were a sublime Tirimasu and a terrific Creme Caramel . The bill was 80 euros. The service was fine and the only downer was that it was empty - it shouldn't have been.

“So much more than it seems!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 May 2011

We were brought here by local friends, and upon seeing the outside, I couldn't believe this was the place they were so excited to bring us. I was so surprised! I inside was so charmingly decorated and it had a family atmosphere while having an innovative menu. We were treated, so I honestly don't know how much it was, but the food just kept coming, and it all was excellent! We closed down the place, and the chef and her husband were so humble in thanking us for coming--as if they hadn't given US a tremendous experience and we kept them at work late! I would highly recommend this place!

“Eat here-Don't miss it”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 May 2011

We had a fabulous dinner here. We had the Sea Bass which was absolutely the best we have ever had. We are sure the other menu items are equally fantastic. The interior is quaint and charming and off the beaten path. The music seemed adjusted to the internationale clientele (Micheal Buble in SML?) The service was superb as well as everything associated with this wonderful evening. You will be happy you ate here-without a doubt.
