From the heart of the City to the heights on a very steep funicular, via a few short intermediate stops. If you have an AMT travel ticket, this ride is included free. Good panoramic views from the top, but not a lot else to do up there, unless you are a serious walker. It is definitely worth the time for this trip experience though.

Fun and efficient trip up to the hills on the outskirts of Genoa. Views are great, but there’s not a massive amount to see in the immediate vicinity once you arrive at the top (beyond the views of course). There is a fort which you can walk to within 15 minutes, but there are no sign posts directing you, so it’s a bit of luck if you end up actually finding it...

While the funicular ride itself was fun (and very cheap), when we got to the top, the view across the Genoa seascape was disappointing in that it was blotted out by trees and buildings for the most part. At the rear, the views towards the mountains were better, but, again, the foreground did the views no favours.
It is worth it for the ride, and, perhaps, if you spent more time at the top and went to the park, then it might have been more impressive. (We did not have time.)

We were eager to take a ride with the funicular System put in place for the first time 120 years ago. Cheap ticket, friendly staff, comfortable ride. The view up top is fantastic. This is not related to the amt, but it would be useful to have a clearer set of info with map of what can be done uphill.

It's definitely worth taking a funicular up to the last stop. There's a view from the deck but it's worth to walk about 5minutes (to street heading upwards) where you'll get a full panoramic view of the city and harbor.
