“something special, but unpolite”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 June 2012

in carignano area, one of the best, peacefull and green in genoa, this 5 stars hotel is really fine and refined. owing to some inconveniences, unfortunatly the service at checkout has been unpolite.
conforatble rooms with a d'annunzio's atmosfear, it's good only if you catch an internet offer.

I have nothing to criticize about this hotel - friendly staff, excellent service, nice decor, impeccable rooms

The hotel was within ten to fifteen minutes walking distance from the city square, all main attractions, and the Genoa Brignale train station. The room was extremely clean, with auto blinds, a 37" flat screen TV, and a nice bathroom. The hotel receptionist was helpful with showing us places to visit around the city and questions about the train system. There was no Wi-Fi on the fifth floor, so we had to use it in the lobby. The gym did not have a lot of equipment and was small. Europeans do not take exercise as seriously as Americans, but water, fruit, and towels were abundant. The Pool was shallow, but very modern. Best bang for your buck imo

At the price we got this for, it is a bargain. Taken over by the Melia group last September, it is in a very civilised area about 10 mins walk from the old town. Some kinks haven't yet been ironed out, in our room on the 5th floor, the blinds were stuck and we had to fix it, the internet in our room didn't work. Asked to speak to the manager, the wonderful Sebastien who promptly moved us to a junior suite (lovely) on the 1st floor, perfect wifi connection and a vast room. Loved the decor, modern and stylish, enjoyed an abundant breakfast, my only niggle is that there should be a toaster so that you could toast your bread without having to ask the staff to do it in the kitchen for you. we stayed here for 5 days and would do so again.

Room Tip: upgrade to a junior suite if you can afford it

We stayed for one night on our way to Venice. This would rate as a 5 star from all the extras that are provided, lovely thick bathrobes, very nice bathroom with small T.V in the bathroom mirror, auto blinds at the push of a button etc. we used the gym which had a reasonable assortment of equipment and provided towels, water and fruit. The gym bathrooms were well equipped as well. Unfortunately the spa / pool was closed when we stayed but it looked fabulous.
Our drink in the bar was accompanied by some lovely snacks and pleasant service from the staff.
Breakfast was a buffet with a good range of food to choose from. My coffee didn't turn up as ordered, the staff seemed very busy.
Only thing that caught us out was the valet charge for our car parking, we weren't informed this was going to cost, just told they would sort the car parking for us.
