Had an amazing week at this hotel in June 2018. Exceeded my expectations. The hotel is extremely clean and beautifully presented. The staff go out of their way to welcome you and take care of your every need.

Our room was fantastic. We had a north facing room with a balcony overlooking the car park area. Great views of the Ligurian hills. The bed is probably the most comfortable I’ve ever had and I travel a great deal.

Easy access through the back of the hotel to the Passeggiata Anita Garibaldi. This is a paved coastal path that takes you through stunning views of the sea and rocky outcrops. This is really stunning. A 10 minute walk gets you to a few restaurants on the sea front and the train station. 7 minutes on a train gets you into Genoa Brignole if you want to explore the city.

Overall, I highly recommend this place and hope to return in the future.

Room Tip: North side is quietest. Train line at the back could be noisy if you have the windows open but it never bothered us at all.

Old style, quiet and very comfortable. Right on the Garibaldi coastal path; accessible by train (avoid the traffic). Not many restaurants immediately adjacent - but a good reason to walk the path and find little places on the beaches or harbours close by.
Highly recommend it

Room Tip: we looked South (not over the sea) - and had beautiful bird filled trees

And not in a good way.

Good news - pretty location, great views to the beach.

Bad news - slooooooooooooooooooow service and lift. Read other reviews about how time stands still in the lift ...

Food-wise, despite encouragement to ensure we had a reservation for the restaurant, we were the only diners and the experience was very below acceptable for a hotel. Food didn't taste fresh and lacked flavour.

In the rooms the electrical wiring seems in need of an update with some appliances buzzing and a lamp flickering all night until unplugged.

I agree with other reviewers that this place needs a good update to realise its potential.

We visited in September (quieter than in the middle of Summer?) so the key experience of this hotel was that it was very relaxed, which of course has its pluses and minuses.

The hotel was extremely peaceful with only a few guests visible during breakfast or waiting for the lift (will tell you more about that later). A mixed bag - elderly relatives with family members, couples and young families. However there was no intrusion into each other's holidays - it was still very possible to maintain a lot of privacy.

We had a room on the top floor with a balcony which was superb. The bathroom was the same size as the actual bedroom which was a fantastic surprise. The view out towards the ocean was wonderful, you can absorb some beautiful sunsets. The room was very clean. Bathroom essentials supplied including large bath matts, towels, some travel toiletries. There is even a view from the bathroom out towards the hills via the large doors. I would describe the decor as chintzy, but just about, in a way, that it can still be enjoyed. May need a slight update soon however, but overall it was kept in good condition, things were made to last here.

The front desk were extremely polite, helpful and welcoming. The lady serving breakfast in the morning was also faultless. Immaculate service and very friendly.

There are perhaps some parts of the hotel which just felt: half asleep! and one had to be very patient:

Ordered breakfast to be delivered to the room for 9am and no one had collected our order. We had to chase and call reception and when it arrived we had to prompt for plates to eat from and by this point it was over an hour late. There seemed a shortage of staff to oversee the breakfast in the restaurant and bring room service.

We had to request extra toilet roll having not been replenished during house keep.

Our first night at the hotel, we were informed there was a private event in the bar and reception but we could use the bar until 7.30pm. Having been travelling all day and not had a refreshment since 10am, we really needed a drink. We waited and waited for someone to attend and had to go to reception to prompt service. My prosecco was served from the bottom of an open bottle, so no surprises it was flat! Drink returned, no apology from the waiter (again being patient is all you can do). We observed other hotel guests waiting to be served and also having to prompt reception for help. It felt very disappointing at the very beginning of our holiday in quite an expensive hotel, that our comfort and experience was not a priority while the private function was taking place. Guests also arrived early for the function and it felt inappropriate to share the space. We found ourselves at 6.30pm wondering what to do, waiting for our table for dinner. The hotel should warn guests in advance (especially on their first nights stay) that the restaurant was closed and access to the bar would be limited. This was a very bad first impression and I was quite angry that not even a complimentary bottle of water could be supplied in our rooms. 4 star hotel left their newly arrived guests thirsty and then trapped in our room for an hour (it was raining heavily).

The lift will need work carried out soon. It's very small and is definitely required on the 4th floor where there are steep, marble steps. It's outrageously slow. Time seems to stop while you wait to land on the ground floor. It's impossible to predict where you are, as the time it takes does not seem quantifiable by modern lift standards. Anyway, patience and a sense of humour helps!

Note about wifi if you feel it's an essential - we were told the signal is weak in rooms as major works need to be carried out to modernise this facility. However, we saw the router is on the 4th floor so we had no issues there.

The hotel has pretty, well maintained grounds and is situated close to the coastline (you can use private short cut which is a path / tunnel access using a key from reception). If you take the main entrance / exit and turn left, you can discover the town part of Nervi which includes a small supermarket and some boutique shops. Further along, is the harbour which has a row of good restaurants and a cocktail bar - worth a visit.

Our initial annoyance from the first night was subdued, by sheer luck, due to the kind act of the receptionist on our last day, who allowed us to use the room for an extra few hours until we left for our flight. Again, the relaxed attitude can swing in your favour and sometimes not!

Improvements to be made, especially when guests are paying nearly £300 per night for the 4th floor. Focus on guest comfort needs to be more proactive, especially upon arrival. Overall though, it was a pleasant stay. I would have concerns though, during busy times, how the hotel functions....

An interesting hotel in a great location. A hotel that is delightfully old fashioned, retaining a traditional charm both with the staff and the service provided. We had a room with a balcony, overlooking the small pool, great to sit out to relax and take in the sea views and the Ligurian landscape. The staff were very helpful and friendly, the waiter could have been from faulty towers but added to the charm of the hotel.
