“THE BEST WEDDING RECEPTION! :)”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 October 2011

We had our wedding reception at the MarinaPlace Resort, and it was ever so amazing! We had 21 people total, the food was amazing-- a 13 course meal! Every course was unique and delicious, something I have never had, and something I will probably never have the pleasure of eating again! Great presentation! The service was fantastic, couldn't have asked for anything else! The chef himself even came out to explain most of the dishes. The ambiance was romantic, with great views on the dock right on the sea!

All of our guests were amazed and delighted. The hotel rooms were all unique and well kept, a true luxury. My husband and I stayed on a yacht (Boat & Breakfast) the night of the wedding, which was truly a unique experience-- once in a life time thing! The second night we stayed in the hotel which was excellent! A jacuzzi and steam room in the bathroom, and fully stocked with all the toiletries you could possibly need-- the bath robes and slippers were a treat! The staff was helpful and accommodated our every need. Great management, great service. I can't say one bad word about our experience at MarinaPlace.

Room Tip: If you're into steam rooms or jacuzzis, ask for a room with one (or both) of these :)

I stayed in this hotel for three nights. The room had a view of the marina and the shipping service area of the port. What is impressive is that although it is in a noisy industrial area (next to the airport and a shipping yard) once you close those huge windows, it's magically quiet... the bathroom is fantastic, and the bed is high and comfortable! The staff helps you when you need something and are very friendly. One thing that needs improvement is the breakfast, it needs better variety and quality to match the accomodation level. Parking is totally free and easy. It is fairly hard to locate, but if you have gps there is no problem.

I was tasked with finding a venue for a celebratory dinner for 40 seagoing professionals from all over the world and I found the perfect place. The hotel restaurant provided a solution that was both elegant and cost-effective. With cocktails in the nearby coffee shop/bar and a white table cloth dinner a few steps away along the marina it was a perfect evening. A special shout out to Davide our Maitre D' of the evening who made sure our every need was attended to.

We stayed here for just 1 night after a cruise. We were there very early (just before noon) and luckily, a room was ready to give to us. That was much appreciated! However it ended up being a very long day as there was absolutely nothing to do nearby and wasn't in a great neighborhood. The rooms it self was very nice and modern...though the walls were thin and you could constantly hear the people in the next room over moving around. Also, the internet didn't work, and the front desk people weren't much help. We left too early to be able to comment on the breakfast. We had no trouble getting a shuttle to the airport the next morning. But things at this airport seem to move very slowly. Even though it's small, leave 2 hours to get checked in. It took us over an hour. Overall, I think this hotel is waaay overpriced for what and where it is. For that reason, we would not return.

The rooms here are super-nice and brand new. The shower is amazing, the fixtures are all modern, the bed is really comfy. One nice detail is having two facing closets where you could easily put your bags and open them at arms level.

A few nit picks:
1) the room doors are NOT sound proof... You could hear every person with hard-soled shoes clip clop up and down the hallway all night long.

2) the hotel is called a "spa" - but they offer NO spa services. They only "spa-esque" thing they offer is a work-out room and nice soaps in the bathrooms. Lame.

3) with over 300 channels on the TV, there was ONE in English. Boo.

Two major complaints to do with this place:

1) The location/directions are NOT accurate that I received via email. The "by train" directions stated that they were "adjacent to" the train station. We figured we'd just take the train and walk to the hotel. It was a 30 minute walk from the train station to the hotel through the industrial port ghetto, and that doesn't count another 45 minutes we spent getting lost. We knew they offered a shuttle service we could have taken advantage of, but we didn't have a mobile phone, and we'd been walking everywhere else in Italy - why not to this hotel?

2) We asked to book the shuttle to the airport the next morning for our 7am flight. They suggested 6am was early enough, and I agreed. Later, around 9pm, my wife and I decided we wanted to schedule the shuttle earlier. The response was "No. We already scheduled it for 6 o'clock. Why would you change it? " So I responded - "we'd like to be at the airport earlier in case we have unexpected problems." Again they responded rudely, "No. 6 o'clock is early enough."

I don't know how it is in Genoa, but at least in America this is unacceptable customer service, especially in the hotel industry.

So, if you want an "airport" hotel with convenient access, this isn't the best. If you want really nice rooms and don't mind being confined to one square mile without wandering into the industrial ghetto of Genoa, this is a hotel for you.
