This was our first visit to Genoa and we used Tripadvisor reviews to choose the NH Marina hotel. We were not disappointed.
We booked a weekend package, including breakfast, and a room with a balcony. The hotel is superbly situated for sightseeing in Genoa, less than 5 minutes walk from the old town, 2 minutes from the aquarium, and on a mole into the harbour itself, surrounded by moored boats and a pedestrian area. It has its own underground garage, small but sufficient for all the guests during our stay, which costs €20 per night. This compares well with other parking charges around the hotel.
Hotel staff were welcoming and very helpful, even if they did direct us wrongly to a restaurant, and the room, although small as is usual in city-centre hotels, was very comfortable, well equipped and very quiet. It even had tea making facilities and free bottled water. The balcony overlooked the marina, but unfortunately didn’t include chairs, so it wasn’t possible to sit and watch the world go by.
The breakfast was fabulous for a continental hotel, with a wide choice of fruits, cereals, pastries and meat & cheese cuts, and tables are both in the dining room and outside on the harbour.
Finally, on leaving, it took less than 10 minutes to reach the Highway, even though the hotel is so well situated in the Town Centre.
