The food was very good and we had an excellent waitor named Alessandro who recommended a beautiful wine to go with our meal. We returned for a second night and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Go away of this restaurant, the waiter was so unpolite and not nice. We nearly left in the middle of the meal. On the top of that they charge you 3€ per person for service ! I have never seen that anywhere. The food was not that great in comparison of the price.

Gianni Franzi is a must visit whenever I have the good fortune to be in Vernazza. The view and atmosphere is wonderful. My mouth waters thinking about the seafood spaghetti!!! Love, love, love!

This Place gets packed, especially in the summer, so have a little patience and relax and enjoy the lovely seafood and white wine. Alessandro is one of our favorite waiters here.

We had originally decided on a restaurant on the breakwater for a light Tuesday lunch, but just as we arrived a rogue wave soaked the patrons and flooded the restaurant. We therefore decided on Gianni Franzi, still on the waterfront but a safer distance from the surf. It appeared to us that their fellow countrymen were treated a bit better than the foreign tourists - for example they were provided with an oil & balsamic dip with the otherwise dry bread and allowed to taste the wine prior to it being served. My wife and I commenced by sharing a spaghetti di fruitti de mare for two, which was very nice. I then had a fritto misto (fried seafood), all accompanied by a bottle of Vernaccia di San Gimignano. Service was reasonable but certainly not deserving of a tip due to the issues cited above. Total cost was 69 euros, which as you can see was comparatively quite expensive for what we got - but then again, you are paying for the location.

Had dinner here at the recommendation of someone. The view obviously is great, but I was expecting more from the food. We had grilled baby octopus, another octopus dish and a baked anchovy dish. It was good but kind of lacking in flavor, and the portions were too small (and I never say that). We ended up having to order more and still left a little hungry. The house wine was good and the service was fine if a little disorganized.
Make reservations or be prepared to wait/eat very late.
