Great hike, with spectacular views followed by a wonderful lunch in Vernazza at the wter's edge. Can either hike back, take the tarin or take the ferry.

This was no picnic, but it was a great challenge and did not take too long. Easy train ride back to Monterosso and the views are nothing short of spectacular!

Trail was awesome with it's wonderful views. It was just way too HOT for my liking. Should starting hiking early in the day before the heat really starts up and Bring plenty of water with you.

It was easier than we expected to walk from one village to the next along the cliff paths. We found it best to start tramping early in the morning to beat the heat and rush of people. We walked from Monterosso to Vernazza stopping for coffee and a dip in the sea before continuing along to Corniglia up on the hill. We had lunch here before catching the train back to Monterosso. The next day we caught the train to Riomaggiore and after exploring the village we did the easy walk along to Manarola. Unfortunately, due to a slip in the path we could not continue on to Corniglia from here - but we had already seen this little village the day before so we weren't too worried. We caught the train back to our accommodation in Montorosso. We were pleased we choose this village to stay in rather than Riomaggiore as there was more to see and do there.

if you are not affraid of italian kind of wild driving, rent a car and feel free to visit one of the nicest places in Europe. Driving along the coast, all the way from Pisa to Genova, allows you to stop whenever you want and in any place you like. Take the highway, direction La Spezia. Leave the highway when you reach the way out to Biassa/Riomaggiore. Drive along the coast. The scenery is amazing. If the road is open, go down to Riomaggiore or Manarola and then Vernazza. Another option, you can enjoy the view of these small villages from the main road, up in the hill.
Do not miss Monterosso al Mare, go down to this enchanted place, late afternoon, and have dinner at Ristorant La Lampara...open kitchen, fresh and tasty ingredients... I've tasted risotto al frutti di mare... fantastic! togehter with white wine labelled Cinque Terre... perfect!
Beware of the quality and price for accomodation. Italian hotels are quite a bad surprise, most of the times. The one I've stayed, paid 120 euros/night and... run out of water while taking my shower! Then a must go, Portofino! Go there and see for yourself! Lovely place. Nice to have lunch at waterfront if the place is not overcrowded...
Genova is a traditional Italian city... did not miss much time there. Went then to Bologna.
Enjoy the countryside, leave the highway 50klms before reaching central Bologna.
Bologna is an historic city, full of young people (students). Have dinner at the traditional Anna Maria... see by yourself ... there are other options...Bologna nightime is always a party zone.
ENJOY!
