“What a view!”
Reviewed 5 September 2012 for a stay in August 2012

Cinque Terre is beautiful, and a beautiful view is available from the fantastic terrace at Casa del Capitano – once you get your bags up the hill! The hill is not a problem without bags, so once you get yourself and all your belongings inside it is a great place to base yourself in the second Cinque Terre town. We booked three rooms including the apartment, the apartment is very big - the bedroom, eating area and kitchen make up one large room - each bedroom also has a separate bathroom. The hill to get to the accommodation may be an initial challenge, but you can’t get that kind of view from the ground!!

“Loved it!”
Reviewed 8 August 2012 for a stay in June 2012

We travelled as a group of 8 - three couples and two singles, and rented the four rooms that were available. The only issue we had was that there was no privacy for the two staying in the main upstairs room, which had the main kitchen facilities and table in it. The shared kitchen downstairs was nothing more than a fridge and a kettle with a few cups/glasses on a shelf - although they were installing a washing machine when we were there. I think I would have been disappointed if I had just rented one of the ensuite rooms on the lower floor which only had access to this, as I wouldn't really say it was a kitchen. Otherwise this was a fab house for us. Manarola is beautiful but is very steep, and the house is a little out of the centre so it is a bit of a hike back from the train station, etc, but then the trade off is the beautiful view down the valley to the sea from the terrace. It was all clean and tidy, the people friendly, and we had everything we needed to make basic meals on the two ringed hob. A few pans, knives, chopping board, espresso pot, etc as well as sufficient crockery & cutlery. Linen and towels also supplied. Manarola is the most beautiful of the Cinque Terre villages. There is a co-op and a deli in the village, where we bought all our supplies, and lots of restaurants/cafes/takeaways, as well as a lovely geletaria. Casa del Billy's was our favourite restaurant - two minutes walk away. Recommend the catch of the day if you like fish. There's not a lot there if you don't like fish though! The Via Del Amore was a lovely walk, and was paved, so easy to walk once you had climbed the steps. Some of the others could better be described as scrambles rather than walks as the path is narrow and bumpy, not paved - but the views are spectacular. At least one of the other paths was closed due to the floods in 2011, but they are working on repairing them. We really enjoyed our stay, and would use the house again in a similar situation.

Casa del Capitano has just 1 kitchen,we have never said it has 2 kitchens. We have put an extra fridge + washing machine on the first floor in a common area for all our guests.
