We was invited by family (two couple). First impression was of a cramped restaurant, way too much table in a small area that is available; we had a special offer made available by the (what appears) the new Owner of the premise (a small mixed grill!) together with house wine and mineral water and dessert.
The mixed grill was combined by a three small pieces of meat of fine cooking but low supermarket quality (no seasoning at all!), to be mentioned that during the meal the staff broken glasses with quite a lot of noise; the dessert was the "best" of the premise, some unknown "panettone" or " pandoro" with a liquid chocolate sauce; though the red wine of the house was a delicacy
The worse of all was a huge and deafening noise made by a duo of a singer and a musician on an electric piano, my wife asked once to have a more confortable volume of the music, but it lasted only a couple of minutes.
It seems quite strange that they show an almost 5 stars Trip Advisor certificate, they deserve a two stars only due to such a deafening noise and poor comfort for the customers.

The owner reserved us a warm welcomed, paid attention to our needs, plus the red wine (house one) was very good and the beef excellent.
If notified in advance, gluten free bread, pasta and desserts are available.

Unlike most TA reviews, I cannot recommend this restaurant. Poor location, unspectacular decor, unfriendly staff and way overpriced. The filet was good though.

A truly very, very bad experience!
Been to strabacco with my family of 4, no great expectations but to get a good meal at a quarter-restaurant, based on earlier reviews and average rating on trip advisor. Certainly, the people at strabacco pride themselves a lot about their trip advisor ratings, with a lot of posters outside in inside the restaurant. One of them shows a prize of excellence...
Meal started with some dreadful antipasti, including slices of processed turkey meat and pasteurised cheeses supermarket style on faded rocket.
Same story with the pasta of the day my daughters ordered: much too cooked and sauce from a can tasted like poor hospital food. They did not like it. My wife ordered a tagliata (grilled beef) medium that came very rare, but the prize of excellence was mine:
I ordered the grigliata mista of the day (mixed grilled) and got a gigantic plate with the following:
- 1 Piece of pork belly grilled too little time at a far too high temperature, burned outside and pink inside
- 1salsiccia they survived the grill
- cevapcici of industrially processed meat, obviously from the freezer
- 1 chicken drum cooked like the pork above, more pink inside because previously freezed
- 3(!!!) hot-dogs, don't want to know the ingredients, very low level of meat-products
- a mountain of mashed potatoes of suspicious color
All of it savagely salted.
Couldn't eat any of it, we ended up not paying for the grigliata but the damage was done anyway. We left praying that we would not be ill.

My wife and I are just back from the charming and history-rich city of Trieste, one of the hidden pearls of Italy. It is located very close to the border with Slovenia. It is a city with a wonderful mix of many different cultures. Not far from Trieste's Cathedral we found this little gem called Strabacco. With typical Italian flair, the hosts made us feel home the moment we stepped in. As starters we ordered "Burratina", a cheese made from mozzarella and cream, and "caprese di bufala". The main course was reserved to meat. This restaurant serves quality beef and any beef lovers must not miss the selection on offer. My wife chose "Filleto di Manzo and Rosmarino" I went for the Argentinean Cube Roll (Angus Beef). Simply delicious.
Anyone visiting Trieste should pay a visit to Strabacco for a meal. Prices are reasonable, the service is friendly and efficient and the food is simply great.
