Based on Trip we asked the reception at Duomo Hotel to book a table at I-Fame as this was supposed to be the best place for fish in Rimini. The response was we may wanted to try Quartopiano instead.
We accepted, and what a joy. Despite being underdressed we were welcomed like the the top of the pop.
We opted for the fish menu as fish was what we came for, the menu is 5 course plus the 3 extra with complements from the chef.
The biggest problem was to select the wine, we were given a book of the size of the bible and gave up. We basically told the sommelier what grapes we didn't like and then followed his suggestions on two white wines from the northern part of Italy, they were dead on to our taste.
We had the 8 dishes served, and they were all extremely good, no need to go into details as the menu will change often, but the quality was beyond what we expected.
After the desert and the coffee we had to ask for the bill, we all guessed on the amount as we had no idea on what the price was for the wines.
The bill was €130 lower than the lowest guess. €70 per person including desert wines and coffee on a restaurant worthy of at least one star.
The one floor up, comes from the fact that we had to go up to 5th floor to the wonderful open terrace with a perfect view over the town, not only was the restaurant one floor up, the food was indeed, one floor up from the crowd.
Nothing bad said on our initial idea, but thanks to the Hotel for taking us somewhere else and thanks to everyone at Quartopiano for having us.
