We were very pleased with the comfort and quality of our room and with the services provided by the hotel staff, with a special mention to Christina who works in the restaurant. Her professionalism and personal touches made our stay even more memorable. Staff like Christina are an asset for the hotel industry.

What a find! The hotel I originally saw online and wanted that was closer to the center of town was fully booked. I’m glad because Park Hotel Pacchioso could not have been more pleasant. Our room was huge and the bathroom was also very large and spa like. We arrived in a rental car, and one of the servers in the restaurant, Kristina, I think, came out to help me into the parking area inside the wall in front of the hotel, and she took our bags to our room. Later that evening she was our server in the hotel restaurant. The restaurant was excellent for breakfast as well as dinner. The back doors of it opened out to the beautiful grounds in the back and more tables. I don’t know if there was a fitness room, but the hotel is easy walking distance to a huge park with walking trails, fountains and sculpture. Kristina also gave me a map of how to get there. She was great. We loved our stay at this hotel.

Although the neo-classicist building screams of grandeur and luxury, there is no gym, spa or pool to be found in the gated house. The rooms are smaller than you’d expect (think: cell with 4m high ceilings), and the WiFi is very slow. Phone signal is bad, too, so if you do have to do business, you’re better off outside the building. This estate in the city centre seems to be gated for — what?

The Park Hotel Pacchiosi is difficult to review. On the one hand, it is a fine place with nothing major wrong - on the other hand you get this weird feeling of checking into a place run by the Adams family, with grand (if faded) interiors and the distinct impression that you're being watched !

We only stayed one night, so maybe we did not give the hotel a fair chance ... and as stated above, there is nothing so wrong that it puts one off. The hotel is in the middle of town, in its own small park. It has a well maintained and safe underground car park, the rooms are reasonable and the rates very competitive.
But..... once you drive into the underground car park, it is very difficult to actually find reception. You take an elevator to the ground floor, then need to leave by what is signposted as an emergency exit, then follow signs to the park, find a lift hidden in the side of the main building, press the intercom and wait for reception to send the lift down !
We were told that one can have cocktails in the park area in the evening, and indeed there are tables and chairs laid out - however the place is deserted. You need to find an electric buzzer on the table, press it, and then wait around 5 minutes until a waitress comes out of the restaurant to serve you. They do however make good cocktails and serve them with a generous variety of nuts etc.
When you are ready to eat, there is a restaurant that opens on to the park - but you are not allowed to enter from there .... you need to go find the hidden lift, go back to reception and then enter the restaurant. By the way, that night, we were one of only two tables occupied which was a bit creepy. Food was passable, nothing to write home about.
The bedroom was fine, with a generous bathroom
Next morning, at checkout, we were paid our bill and then were left to our own devices to carry our bags back down the circuitous route to the car park.
Overall a decent place to stay if you are passing through town, but not a destination hotel by any means

This renovated psychiatric hospital (then after that an orphanage) apparently was originally established as a hospital. Beautifully and expensively renovated, with an expansive nicely maintained park, surrounded by a high fence, separates the hotel from the surrounding neighborhood.

The hotel is privately owned, which has advantages. At the same time, if the owners are new to the hotel business, there can be some unexpected deviations. For example, they say pets are welcome and may be charged (on booking.com), only to discover our friendly 4 paws incur a fee of 40 euros. Which buys a basket full of useless items we already carry. Most jaw dropping are the 12 rules, typed and presented to owners for signature. This is where private ownership falls apart...as guests are subjected to family whims, incompatible with standard hotel practices. Of our 3 prior stays in Italian 5 stars, dogs were free. At most, a pet averages from 15-20. And parents required to breakfast and dine outdoors with their pet. Hardly can one call themselves pet friendly given these details.

Air conditioning is evidently set at 25, which took much fussing and room changes to guess at. Clearly staff must have known this, but we discovered by searching past hotel reviews and montoring air in another room offered. At a 5 star hotel in summer heat, 25 is most insufficient and unacceptable.

Beauty is skin deep. Beneath its surface, guest details are yet to be worked out. Plastic cups on the bathroom, average amenities, dangerously slippery showers.

In fairness, other guest reviews give good and deserved feedback. There is much right here and Parma benefits from a needed 5 star. Please balance pleased guests with this review.

Room Tip: Patio rooms are lovely. Guests can create a cross draft in heat by opening patio door and room door...more Effective than hotel AC.
