“Good location, good value”
Reviewed 29 July 2012

This hotel is close to the train station, which is why we chose it. Neighborhood is good and close to other restaurants, but the best restaurant is right next door, San Luigi Ristorante. Our room was the family room, which sleeps four: two twin beds and a double. This was fine for us, except the double bed was separated by a shoulder high wall which kept the head of the bed from getting the A/C. Easily solved by sleeping at the foot. There was street noise as this suite sits right on the sidewalk. The bathroom is a step down, by the entrance door, making it a little tricky if you get up at night, so take a flashlight! Breakfast was not a highlight, but the day manager was delightful. When we asked him about restaurants and he mentioned San Luigi, we asked if it was good. He patted his stomach and said "oh yes, can't you tell?"

Room Tip: Rather than take the family suite which is on the sidewalk, if you can, book two rooms in the main p...

Stayed for 2 nights in July. The hotel is a ten minute walk from the station and maybe a 20-30 minute walk to the main squares of Bologna. We were allowed to check in an hour early which was nice. The room was fairly spacious, décor was a bit dated in the bedroom, but the bathroom was very modern. The breakfast was in a charming room and the choice was large and tasty. Would stay here again.

The hotel is O.K. The room was very small and dark. The bathroom was good with the exception of the shower that it was very narrow. The location is close to the train station, but a bit far away from the Piazza Maggiore and not the best area to walk at night. Breakfast was O.K., but it lacked fresh fruit.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with natural light.

We stumbled across this hotel in 2010 for our first visit to Bologna and when we returned this year, for the annual Cinema Ritrovato 2012 festival, we booked a room here again based on our experience last time. It's a short distance from the festival site and the Piazza Maggiore, which we were visiting nightly for the films. We really liked the area -- just north of the train station, it somehow felt a little set apart from the hubbub of the central city, which was nice at the end of the day. Definitely clean and comfortable, with a pleasant breakfast and wonderful staff who pointed us to some excellent restaurant choices we would not have found on our own. We chose a room with a private balcony this year and it was worth it (although we didn't end up sitting out there much because of record-breaking high temperatures.) We plan to stay here again if we return for the festival in the future.

Room Tip: Get a room with a balcony -- it's worth it! You can enjoy a glass of wine at the end of a long d...

Had a great stay. Hotel is convenience to the training station, the bus stop and shopping (my wife made me say that), Our initial room would not cool down enough but the staff was very accommodating and quickly moved us to another, if not better, room. Breakfast was good as well and the staff was more than willing to answer all our questions. I would definitely stay again.
