“So convenient”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 July 2012

My wife and I stayed in this mercure for 4 nights in july. The hotel is opposite the train station, which is also the terminus for the airport bus, and as it's only ten minutes from the city centre it's perfectly sited. Immediately ouside the hotel is a selection of 24/7 fast food cafes - ideal for snacks and drinks.

The hotel staff were always friendly and attentive and the room was spotless. Bed linen is changed every three days. The public areas are pleasant and the garden is a tranquil spot - yet only a few metres from busy traffic. Air conditioning throughout the hotel was faultless.

The bedroom was not overly-big, but well furnished. The king-size bed was comfortable and a good night's sleep guaranteed. The bathroom was average-sized. The lighting could be improved, but the shower worked perfectly. Toiletries were replenished each day. The fridge in the bedroom was on the blink, so we got ice from the bar.

Altogether a most comfortable and restful stay and I wouldn't hesitate to rebook.

Room Tip: Be sure to ask for a room overlooking the garden. Absolutely essential for a quiet stay.

This is a very nice hotel just in front of the rail way station. No noise from the strett, we asked for a room with garden view and Elena was very kind helping us with our requests (no smoking floor, garden view). The rooms are very clean, big enaugh, and the common areas are lovely, we appreciate the lobby, the breakfast room, the garden.... The buffett breakfast was delicious! Internet wifi free everywhere.

I would like to have given 3 and a half. My husband thinks I am being mean and the hotel deserves 4.
Most things about the hotel are fine, some good and some could be better. The rooms are rather small. It was difficult for 2 people to move aout and get dressed at the same time (neither of us are big) The bathroom too, is small and unless 1 is in the shower/bath it is very intimate.

The bed is good, and the linen very good and changed often, but the pillows had a certain brick like quality. Generally the housekeeping is good, with toiletries changed daily.

The hotel has an attractive, shady garden, which was great as it was very hot while we were there, but the seating is extremely uncomfortable.

The staff are very helpful and friendly. We did not eat breakfast so can't commment on that.

The hotel is right opposite the train station and a short walk to the bus station , so is great for getting around, The bus stop is right outside the hotel (local buses)

It is about a 15 minute walk into the centre, but it is an easy one.

Did we have a good time? Yes. Would I go back to Bologna? Yes. Would I stay there again? Well probably. Get a room overlooking the garden if you decide to go.

While you are there visit Ferrara. It is so beautiful.

Very helpful and caring staff. Good location for walking into the old city. Very good breakfast included in room rate.

Good location opposite train and bus stations and very quick walk to town. Sure, the rooms are a bit dated in that the carpet is tired, but rooms are bigger than your average hotel room. Bathrooms have full sized baths. Ask for a garden view room and book in advance for really cheap rates through booking.com.
