On 28th May my husband and I decided to take this individual trip rather than a group tour and we were not disappointed. We were taken to a small farm 40 minutes west of Bologna. We watched the Parmigiano Reggiano cheese emerging from the milk filled vats in front of our very eyes and lifted into the round moulds . It was also fascinating to see the consequent stages of production.
The balsamic vinegar tour was interesting, finding out it was made entirely from grape juice. The taste of the 40 year old vinegar was unbelievable.
Lunch was fabulous with home made pasta and plenty of the delicious
local sparkling wine.
After a drive through picture postcard Italian countryside we arrived at the Parma ham producer. Again a very interesting visit. seeing 20,000 hams hanging up drying.
Throughout the day Morgan was a perfect guide and soon became more like a friend.
We had a thoroughly good time and would recommend this tour.
