This is the third time that we've dined at La Tavola del Carmine. Our first experience-- we were part of a large group (about 10 people) was a hit or miss experience; the food was good but the service was erratic and too slow.
But our second and third meals were much better.
First, we've learned to be among the first to arrive for lunch or for dinner.
Second, if there are just a few of you, it's possible to order whatever you want but if your group is larger, you should try to keep your choices to a minimum. Everything is cooked to order so if you order 8 different pasta dishes, service will be slower than if 8 friends decide to focus on 2 or 3 pasta dishes.
Third, think about sharing entrees and adding some vegetables (they're grown on-site and wonderfully prepared). Portions are generous and, if you want to be able to enjoy dessert, it could be a smart move.
We dine out often in Ancona. La Tavola del Carmine is becoming one of the city's best options, especially if you're looking for something different than fish.
