“Exactly what we wanted”
Reviewed 2 May 2012

We stayed two nights at the Hotel Artorius at the end of April 2012. An excellent location for exploring Ancient Rome, and lots of great restaurants very close. We had a large room, immaculately clean, and a decent sized bathroom. Our room fronted the street, but when the windows were closed it was very quiet, and between the shutters and curtains it was so dark that we overslept.

The staff were uniformly pleasant and helpful. It was a bit of a palaver getting to the room as you needed the key to get through an outer door, and as you also needed the key for electricity, that meant one person couldn't go out and leave the other in the room but that was a very minor point, and it did mean the room felt very secure.

Breakfast wasn't brilliant, but it was perfectly adequate and more than made up for a fantastic location. Highly recommended.

Have come a couple of times to this hotel, mainly because of the location. Artorius is in the heart of Monti, a quaint little neighbourhood full of restaurants, wine bars and fashion boutiques. Apart from the location, the hotel has little to offer: Rooms are small and overlook a small courtyard or the narrow street. The furnishing is traditional; breakfast the usual meagre Italian variety. That being said, the hotel is spotlessly clean. Prices have risen recently (paid around 170 euros for a single room last time) and gone way beyond the reasonable for this kind of hotel.

Located in a semi-pedestrianised street the Via del Boschetto, but just a couple of minutes from main Via Nazionale and 10 mins walk from Stazione Terminii, this little 10 room hotel is ideally placed for seeing Rome either by foot or bus. Rooms may be small but very well maintained and bathroom/shower modern and effective. Excellent breakfast in the back courtyard 'tent', friendly staff who speak excellent English (unless you want to try your Italian on them and the caged birds) - plenty of useful guide books available and now they have Wi-Fi. L'Asino d'Oro restaurant almost opposite one of best Italian I have eaten in.

stayed for two wonderful weeks March 14 thru 27 2012 loved it. Very quiet street with restaurants on the same street, short walk to Trevi fountain and Spanish Steps also very near the Vittoriano monument and Piazza Venezia a few more blocks and you are at the Pantheon and Piazza Navonna or shop along Via del Corso. The hotel is extremely clean and super friendly just off via Nazionale short walk to Metro also Mini Electric bus stops about one hundred meters on the right. You are made to feel at home with a lovely breakfast every morning. We would not hesitate going back.

Room Tip: our room had a lovely balcony where you can sit and plan your days

This small hotel is in a narrow cobbled street close to the Colosseum, with lots of great local restaurants, shops and bars. The hotel itself occupies one floor of an old apartment building with a very old lift. The reception area is tiny, but the rooms themselves are a good standard with very nice bathrooms and showers. We occupied three rooms and the location was ideal, as was the room layout. Breakfast is good, served in the garden under a marquee, nice coffee, great pastries. My only criticism was that there were no fresh rolls, only sliced bread for toast, disappointing given the great bakeries nearby. But that is a minor criticism for what is a very well run little hotel ideally situated for a short break sightseeing in this most interesting and beautiful city.
