I adored my stay at Annette! The location could not be more convenient - just a 5 minute walk from Vatican City and right by Castel Sant'Angelo. The neighborhood is quiet at night, and the wifi is brilliant. Gabriela is so kind and accommodating; she e-mailed me as soon as I made my reservation to greet me and help me set up transportation from the airport, since I was arriving so late.

My only caution is that the walls are very thin, so you can hear every time a door opens in the hallway. As long as the other guests are respectful (which we all were during my stay), it's not a big deal, but it's worth knowing ahead of time.

This b&b has everything to have a wonderful citytrip: great location (10 minutes from St-Peters Square and the Vatican Museum, 20 minutes to the center of Rome), metro and busses nearby and a busshuttle to the airport across the street for only 6 euro's. Lovely service and nice breakfast and a refrigerator at your disposal day and night. Great !

Room Tip: The exterior bathroom in the hall is not in the least a disadvantage en is completely private.

Arrived in Rome late in the evening at Campino airport. We then paid 8 euros each for the bus shuttle ( and return) to Rome Termini. At the Termini, we then got the metro for 1.5 euros each (easier if you have change for the machine) to Lepanto which is the nearest stop to the B&B. There is then a 10 minute walk through a nice area with restaurants, bars, etc. We arrived at nearly midnight and were met by Gabriela who showed us where everything was. Our room was huge and overlooking the front street with lots of shutters so you could not hear the traffic. It had tv, iron, ironing board and plenty of storage space. The bathroom was across the corridor which was exclusively ours to use. This had a powerful shower, toilet, bidet, mirrors, etc. In the morning, the small kitchen/diner was just outside our room. Gabriela would cook breakfast for us, make coffee and chat away making it a lovely start to the day. There was toast, scrambled egg, yoghurts, croissants, juices, bread, jam, cheese, meat and tea, coffee, etc. There was a large fridge in the kitchen, so if you wanted to buy anything you could keep it in there on your alloted shelf.

The B&B was located in a quiet residential area which was close to what looked like quite an exclusive area with some lovely bars, restaurants and shops. It was busy whatever time of night we walked through.

It was a 5 minute walk to the Vatican and then we just wandered for hours during the day taking in all the sites, then a lovely stroll back at night where we stopped at the 'Scots Bar' for a quick one before going back just down the road from the B&B. We thought it was the perfect location as it was away from the busy parts of town.

We went the Trastevere area, which is where the locals will go to eat. This is a quaint part of town and should definitely be visited. Our meal with starters and a bottle of wine was only 40 euros! Great atmosphere and only a 15 minute walk along the river from the B&B.

We also went to Florence for the day, it sounds like a long way, but on the speedy train it only took 1 hour 22 minutes. We bought the tickets on the day and they were more expensive than usual at 150 euro, but if you buy them online prior to your visit you can get them for around 30 euros each. Worth every penny! We left around 10am and returned at 9pm, enough time to wander around the streets of Florence and a nice meal.

The metro around the city is really easy to use, trains every 5 minutes, couple of lines, red and blue, so easy to use. 1.5 euro for 100 minute ticket, 3 euro for 24 hour ticket, etc. Great value and not too busy.

We used the City Sightseeing bus on one day as it was so hot and we had walked miles. It cost 20 euros each, but they were so busy we had to wait for the next bus a couple of times and they were busy up top if you wanted the views.

Eating and drinking around the city was not too expensive. Cheaper if you went down the side streets, but not the most expensive city I have been to. Couple of nice roof bars around the city too for a nice drink taking in the views. There was one near the Piazza Spagna that we tried a couple of times to get into, but I don't think we looked the part as she kept telling us it was closed!!

If you are there on a Wednesday, you can go and see the pope speak at the Vatican. They issue free tickets on a Tuesday, then you can get a close up seat if you go around 9am. He talks from 10am for around an hour and a half.

All in all a fabulous week, a fantastic B&B and looked after by the lovely Gabriela, we will definitely be going back.

I visited my daughter who was studying abroad in Rome and on her recommendation, stayed at Annette B & B. Even before I left the US, the wonderful Gabriela was helping me with instruction on the most cost effective way to reach the property from FCO (there is a bus for 6 Euro!)

This property is located in a great neighborhood and within easy walking distance of many sites, and right out on Via Crescenzio we never had trouble getting a cab if we wanted to travel further than my feet wished to walk.

Gabriela is so wonderful, kind, and welcoming. She made breakfast every morning (she is happy to make whatever you would like) but oftentimes I slept in and missed breakfast. At any rate, each room is given a shelf in the fridge and with the grocery store in easy walking distance, it was perfect. She always had fresh fruit and the little crunchy toasts (they are packaged; not sure what they are called but I loved them!) left out for the late risers or afternoon snackers.

I stayed in both the room with the en suite bathroom and also in the room with the bathroom across the hall (when I returned after having spent a few days in Salerno.) All of the rooms are lovely, comfortable, and spotless (bathrooms included.) At first I was a little worried about having a room with a bathroom across the hall, but it really is not a big deal - it is still YOUR bathroom - not for just anyone to use - and it literally is three steps across the hallway. The showers are great - water pressure and hot water consistently!

The rooms are all large and comfortable. You can easily open the shutters to let light in, you can open the windows for fresh air, or you can close everything (which really makes it easy to sleep late...) I found the beds to be firm but quite comfortable and always slept like a rock. I understand some other reviewers were complaining about the TVs. They are small by American standards - but honestly, I didn't travel to Italy to watch tv. There was cable in every room, but the shows are in Italian of course. I enjoyed flipping on the tv and having the sound of the beautiful Italian language in the background.

I truly loved my stay at Annette B&B and it felt like home. Gabriela obviously takes great pride in her property and her business. Without us even asking, she surprised us with tickets so we could go see "Papa" speak at the Basilica on Wednesday. The tickets are free, but I would have had no idea where to get them. It was so thoughtful of her. She is happy to help with anything you need.

In closing, Annette B&B is a wonderful, locally owned, small, intimate bed and breakfast. It is spotless, comfortable, safe, secure, and run by a wonderful lady who truly takes pride in what she does. Annette B&B is the only place I will stay when I return to Rome - without question.

Room Tip: The room with the en suite bathroom is on the courtyard side of property

What an amazing place. I studied abroad in Rome for a semester and stayed here before I could move into my student housing. Gabriela, the owner, made me feel so comfortable: she recommended places for me to go and meet people and find good food, called a taxi for me when it was time for me to move into my student apartment, and cooked a beautiful full breakfast. The rooms are impeccably clean, showers have amazing pressure and are consistently hot (something that's not to be taken for granted in Rome-it's hard to find, trust me), and it's an amazing location. Right across the street from Castel Sant' Angelo, one of my favorite historical landmarks in Rome. Also only one street away from Via Cola di Rienzo, a popular street full of stores where lots of Romans can be found doing their shopping. When my mom came to visit me in Rome, I had her stay at Annette B&B also and her experience was equally amazing. Gabriela made her feel so welcome and comfortable. She was shocked to find such an amazing place to stay in Rome at such a reasonable price. I recommend this place to anyone staying in Rome, whether it be for a night or for 2 weeks. You won't find a more comfortable, personal, friendly, clean hotel for this price in Rome!!
