“Better than expected”

As first time visitors and B&B customers in Italy (and Europe) we had no prior experiences to compare with, but based on the Google map and street view and email communications with Olena, the B&B operator, we knew we would be in a city environment about a 10-15 minute bus ride away from Rome's city center. We stayed 6 nites in one of the two vacation apartments. The location was ideal, in a safe multi-ethnic district of street-level small businesses and apartments above them (make sure you have the steet number as addresses can be initially difficult to find), The area was largely free of other tourists (a big deal compared to Rome center) and made us feel special as we shopped, consumed our late afternoon coffee and desserts at sidewalk tables, dined at a couple of good restaurants (off the beaten paths), and generally mingled with the locals who knew we were not from the area but were generally helpful and patient with our poor communication skills and lack of protocol knowledge of their banking and postal systems. The area served as a great respite from our nearly daily forays into the center of Rome to do the typical tours of their historic sites. The B&B accommodations were basic but clean and functional. Our little balcony overlooking the narrow street fronting the apartment provided an opportunity to read and work on the laptop in open air, and take-in some of the mostly sedate-after work and weekend celebrations on the street. The community dining area and newly-built bathroom were small but functional. Olena, the owner, was a source of helpful information on good nearby restaurants, the bus schedule and places to visit. She cleaned the apartment, dining area and bathroom daily and made sure everything was well-stocked. Clearly, this young mother is dedicated to ensuring wonderful experiences for her customers.

Liked best: The owner, her baby and the surrounding neighborhood (but one needs to scout around)
Liked least: The noisy and early street-side trash collection vehicles (but typical of any large city)

“Wonderful and Convenient!”

I loved my stay at B&B EVA. I spent two weeks here while doing some sightseeing in Rome and the surrounding area. The staff was very polite and extremely helpful. The rooms were very clean, air conditioned, and I had my own balcony. Although I traveled solo, my room had ample room for two people. The bathroom was shared, but it was spotless and had a larger shower than I have encountered elsewhere in Europe. The breakfast was light, usually an array of cookies and biscuits, corn flakes, a croissant, tea, coffee, juice, and water. The breakfast nook was also equipped with a refrigerator, so if I wanted to pick up something extra for myself I could. The neighborhood was very pleasant, with hardly any other tourists from what I could tell, and seemed very safe. There are lots of shops and restaurants within easy walking distance. There is a pizza place I would recommend trying for just a quick bite called Casilina Forno just up the street. It was very easy to get to and from the center of Rome, with two buses and a tram running along a nearby street. The owner was happy to explain how to use roman mass transit as well as to provide a map and restaurant recommendations.
