“Very, Very POOR”
Reviewed 21 May 2012

The staff there are friendly BUT the hotel was awful. The rooms were so small you could not move. The walls are paper thin. The man next to us was having wee and it was like he was in our room! The walls were dirty and the outside area was shabby and in need of attention.
The shower was so small I could not lift my arms above my head to wash my hair! If you are on the large side you will not get in the shower at all! The bathroom however was clean.
I asked for a spare pillow on the first night and got woken up at 7am in the morning to get a pillow given to me!
The breakfast was the worst I have ever had in any hotel around the world. Tinned fruit cocktail, dry bread and cheese slices. The orange juice was like squash with saw dust in and the coffee was just vile... and we were in Italy... Such a shame. The dining room had no windows, was dark and horrible. We did not have breakfast on the second day it was so bad.
The breakfast at the Hotel Antica Locanda is great .. go there or rather stay there. We wish we had. I really hope that the owners sort these things out because Rome is such a fantastic place and the Hotel was awful.
The location is the only thing that is good about this Hotel.

Room Tip: DO NOT stay in tito!

Nice little hotel and so near to the Colosseum. It was 5 minutes walk and also within walking distance of all other attractions.
Good continental breakfast.
You do get what you pay for and this was a basic bed and breakfast with no other facilities so do not expect any lounge to sit in etc.

Stayed at this hotel in mid Feb 2012 as we were in Rome for 4 nights primarily to watch Italy V England in the Rugby 6 Nations. The hotel is being refurbished and therefore the reception and breakfast dining has had to be moved to a much smaller annex so room was a bit tight for breakfast. Continental style breakfast but a reasonable choice and excellent value for money. The staff were superb, especially the catering staff supplying breakfast. Reception staff was really good and their spoken english was excellent which is very helpful to ignorant people like me who won't learn other languages.

We payed £29 per person per night including tourist tax and breakfast for a hotel very close to the Colosseum, clean rooms with ensuite bathroom but a tad on the small side is all.

I would thoroughly recommend this hotel, whether the price will increase when the refurb is completed I can't comment on.

We flew with Lufthansa with a short stopover in Frankfurt, flying from Heathrow - they were excellent, good legroom (I am 6 foot 2 inches tall) and plenty of seat width and the seat belt still had a good 8 inches "spare" with my 44 inch waist, superb.

The hotel also arranged for a taxi to pick us up from the Airport (Flumincio) which was 50 euros but was a 9 seater taxi so we thought it was good value, the journey is about 40 minutes and is a pain by train or bus/coach as we have done that before. The taxi was there waiting where the hotel said it would be, excellent service.

Room Tip: We had a room at the back of the hotel so no view but very quiet.
