First the good: terrific location in a quiet non-touristy area. Charming building..classy old apartment. Great inexpensive restaurants nearby. The bad: horrible mattress, cheap bedding and towels(these were 10% of 400 count cotton), NOBODY ever greeted us!! We still don't know who the owners are!! POOR service..we won't be back to this B&B but will definetly stay in the Prati district again.

This B&B is located in the Prati neighborhood, near the Vatican. It is a quiet, residential neighborhood with lots of places to eat and shop. Also, it is walking distance to Castel Sant'Angelo, Piazza del Popolo in Rome. Actually, if you like to walk as we do, it is walking distance to everything. Or you can take the nearby subway. The staff were very nice, however communication was a problem sometimes. It is a quiet property. We never heard noise from another room. The room was an average european sized room with a very small bathroom with a door that didn't like to stay closed. I love that the neighborhood is quiet enough that you can leave the windows open at night for fresh air-oh except for the new recycling trucks! Breakfast was basic cold buffet, nice but nothing to write home about. We only wished there was a coffee maker in the room.

I've never written a review in my life but as we chose Residenza Scipioni in the first place for the amazing reviews (helpful owners, great service, cleansing and good value for money) i decided to do this cause we were actually very disappointed with our experience! we found a nice B&B, well located near the vatican, but nothing more then that. Our room was very small and not as clean (we even found hair in the shower!). Moreover there was always a disgusting sewage smell around the toilette and the wifi didn't work.
When we arrived we only found the cleaning lady to give us the keys, she couldn't speak english and no one gave us any information or help... the reception closes at 4 pm so if we needed something after that time we had to wait until the next day! The safety box broke at 7 pm and we couldn't open it for over 15 hours - and no answer if you call the emergency number!! With so many places in Rome I'm sure it would be easy to find a better place to stay...

The Residenza Scipione is a nice little hotel with modern rooms. It is well located in the Prati, and a short walk from the Vatican. However, it has been sold recently and the service standards it was known for have not been sustained. The desk is staffed from 8am-4pm which means you have no support outside those hours. Let the door shut with your keys on the bed? You're stuck calling the always answered 24h number. The same number we called a dozen times without an answer. Check in late? You'll be waiting on the sidewalk until someone answers that phone. Guests will listen to the buzzer answer forlornly for several minutes.

We were checking out prior to 8am so we tried to pay the day before. Unfortunately the main lady who handles the desk was away and the lady who handles the breakfast was on the desk. She couldn't process a credit card nor speak English. I called the 24h line when I returned to the room just after 4pm but no answer. The backup lady appeared around 5pm and had now had the requisite training to process their payment.

The most amusing thing was watching the fruit in the breakfast room rot a bit more every day our time there. The staff didn't seem to notice!

Was really looking forward to staying here after reading all the great reviews, but left feeling rather disappointed. When we got off the Metro in Rome, we tried for a little while to find the B&B ourselves, but failed miserably(!), so gave reception a ring for directions. They responded saying 'wait there, we'll come meet you'! What great service....or so I thought?!
A girl turned up, introduced herself, and told us to follow her. We did this for a couple of minutes, then came to an abrupt halt....the girl stopped, spoke on her phone for a little while, walked round a corner, then seemed to vanish into thin air! Safe to say we PANICKED!! Looking in all directions, up and down the street, but she was gone! We tried ringing the number again, and breathed a sigh of relief when someone answered - we then spotted a woman (Federica) waving across the street - she was looking for us! She apologized for the girl who had left us behind, and we accepted, thinking she was perhaps a work-experience girl, or cleaner etc. We arrived at the B&B - a lovely building, old fashioned lift, high ceilings. Decor is modern & clean, huge tv, comfy bed. However, there is a constant horrible odour in the en-suite - really unpleasant.
We went for breakfast the next morning - no-one seemed to be in the dining room when we arrived - but popped our head around the corner, and sitting texting on her mobile was the girl who abandoned us the day before! She greeted us pleasantly, and offered us tea or coffee - we both took tea, but could not drink it - the water was only lukewarm as though water hadn't been boiled. Other little annoying things - every single morning we had to ask for spoons & milk, 2 staff members not visible, so had to keep ringing bell to ask for things.
On the positive side, the room has brilliant WiFi, and a lovely big TV with lots of Sky channels.
The view is great - can see St Peter's Basilica from the bedroom window.
Nice big shower.
Location good - so near the Vatican. Amazing Pizzeria one street away, lots of shops and Gelaterias.
On the whole, probably not value for money, but sure that's the case with lots of Rome accommodation. Finally, no sign of Marta & Fernando who were talked about in previous reviews!
