This hotel has nothing special. The breakfast is just toast and coffee and the hotel has no lounge or gym or anything like that BUT it is a small intimate hotel. The staff is very friendly and they are always open, 24/7. They will help you and welcome you and wish you a good day. Give you tips for restaurants and what to do. It is almost like staying at a friends place. The beds are good but the rooms are very small! The area is quiet and it is easy to get in to the city, just 2 stops from the central station with the metro. Perfect for students and backpackers.

Customers treated as if they are not welcomed.

We have visited this hotel in May, 2014. I do not realize who gave this hotel two stars. The online pictures and the hotel description are total fraud. They are taken from another hotel. Hotel Galeno needs a general refurbishment. The room we had was hyper small, dirty and everything was broken. I felt I am in the Middle Ages - of course I wanted to feel the atmosphere of ancient Rome, but this was way too much than an average European could handle. There was no view-the window was with iron bars like in prison and you could not even open the window. We were close to the reception and every morning from 7.00 a.m you could hear the receptionist talking with clients or just chatting around. It was very noisy. The Breakfast- i would not serve such breakfast even to my biggest enemy. When we went to have the "breakfast", the responsible lady with an arrogant behaviour gave us a tray with coffee and two packed crackers with mini butter and a minimalistic piece of cake and we were supposed to eat this in a corridor. In their website was explicitly stated that the breakfast is CONTINENTAL!. So to sum up Everything what you read and see anywhere online do not represent the current situation of hotel Galeno.
I would finally say that hotel Galeno is acceptable for a one night stay in case you travel and need only couple of hours sleep, but even in that case i would recomend a hostel.

Room Tip: Ask for +a room twhich is far from the reception

Me & my fiancé stayed here for 3 nights and found the location handy still a decent 15 minute walk to most places though. The breakfast is very basic, we are talking like bits of pre packaged toast and spread- that is it. The staff are friendly but expect very basic service. For some reason there was a sewage smell within our room at all hours. Air con worked. Staff do not seem to be happy working here and I am so sure one morning reception said that the maids are on strike. Awkard. Overall not a terrible stay, but unpleasant and would not consider coming back.

Seeing as we were paying £15 per person per night to stay here, we were more than satisfied by the hotel and I think the hotel must have changed since the time that a lot of the reviewers here stayed there. We found the guys on reception to be extremely friendly and so helpful, providing us with a free map and directions to wherever we wanted to go. They frequently checked that everything was OK for us and didn't bother us at all when we were using the (very fast) wifi in the reception until late. We weren't expecting much from the room for the price we were paying so the rust on the taps and the cubby hole that was the shower really wasn't an issue for us. Everything worked well and the bed was comfortable and seeing as we were out early and back late, we really didn't care if the room wasn't somewhere you wanted to spend your whole day! Breakfast was small and tasteless, and we weren't filled up at all, but the ladies who provided it were lovely and we appreciated it for the price, especially as there's a supermarket just down the road. The location was fab, being a 15 minute walk from the train station and a 20 minute walk from the centre of Rome, but far enough out that it was quiet at night time. We really enjoyed our short time here.
