“Pure luxury!”

We spent a nice family vacation in Rome and stayed at Boscolo Exedra. Superb service, large, nice rooms with extraordinary high ceilings. Excellent service and friendly staff. The swimming pool was an asset for our 7-year old. I strongly recommend this hotel. A very nice stay.

We booked the Exedra because the friends we were traveling with had won a trip through work. Usually we stay at smaller, high-end boutique hotels. We were very pleasantly surprised by the Exedra. Our room was lovely. It was quite large with very high ceilings, great air conditioning and a beautiful marble bathroom. The bed was a bit hard but was still comfortable. The location ended up being terrific as we were able to walk everywhere. The concierges were terrifically helpful and were a pleasure to deal with. Our first night at the hotel set the tone for our stay. Our plane was delayed and we arrived at the hotel around 10pm. After a quick shower, we headed up to the rooftop bar by the pool for a quick bite to eat. When we got the attention of the waiter, he said that food was no longer offered but that we would need to go downstairs. We gathered up our drinks and prepared to head downstairs when he rushed over and told us to sit down and that he had arranged for food to be brought up. It turns out that four chefs from downstairs came up specially to prepare our food. It was absolutely delicious--very fresh greens and crudites on ice with vinaigrette in a martini glass with edible flowers floating in it, a lovely nicoise salad, and a sandwich of tomatoes and fresh mozzarella on olive bread. The fact that they had made such an effort (especially when we were so tired and jet lagged) really touched us. We were very happy with the Exedra and would stay here again.

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room at the back

Spent two nights at the Boscolo Exedra before a recent cruise. We arrived from an overnight flight at around 10:30am, the hotel was full from the night before but the front desk worked to find us an avalible room and did so we could shower and change. Our room was great with a small entry and a huge bedroom with 20 foot ceilings and a small patio. The twice daily maid service meant we were always full with towels and amenities. The location is a 10 minute walk from the Termi ( main rome train station) and the subway is right out the door to your left. The hotel is a 5 star property and everything onsite is priced as such. Breakfast was $35 euros ( $50 us) per person, we booked a package that was $340 euro's a night including breakfast and VAT. Drinks at the bar are $15-23 euros each, etc, etc. A great option is taking two lefts out the front door to the main street and their are numerous street cafe's with great food and very reasonible pricing. You can get a great meal for four adults with two bottles of wine for about $100 euro's. your best bet is to walk a block or so off the main drag and look for local places. In summary, we had a great experience and for the money it is in line with what you would pay for similar accomadations in paris/london/NYC.

Boscolo was the last hotel on our Monograms vacation tour issuewith the room (242)as very hot but the nice women who escorted us there assured us it would cool down if we put it to the lowest setting. After returning from the rest of the day it was still uncomfortable so we asked her to check into this. She sent a maintenance worker who tried to fix the issue but could not so we were moved to another Suite. She did mention that this happens with the a/c and good thing we were not here during summer!!!

The room was large and impressive in that it's marble, has nice plush carpets but the service for a so called 5 star hotel was not that great. They could use some more lounge chairs and better hours for the roof-top pool and have better service at the bar in the lobby.

Tip-There is a great restaurant called Alessio right in back of the hotel that was awesome!!!

We arrived around 11:00 am after a trans-Atlantic flight and the lovely desk staff worked closely with housekeeping to get us into a room as quickly as possible, which happened around 1:00 pm.I was expecting a closet of a room and was very surprised to find it reasonably spacious and well maintained.

The room was very hot when we first entered and it took until the next morning to really begin to feel comfortable. Once it cooled down, it remained cool, although we had to set the air conditioning to the coldest setting to keep it that way.

The window looked onto rooftops and basically an alley--no view to speak of, but the room was very quiet.

The bathroom was large with plenty of marble and a tub/shower combo. Plenty of hot water which remianed consistent in temperature and nice amenities. Robes and slippers were provided.

The pillows were flat, hard as rocks, and lifeless, and for those of us who prefer large, fluffy pillows, very disappointing. I've never stayed a a hotel that categorized itself as "five star luxury" that had such terrible pillows. Most luxury hotels offer a pillow menu.

The breakfast included with our room rate was disappointing. Service was good our first morning, but the buffet choice and quality left much to be desired. The second morning service was absolutely terrible--the waittress should be fired. She never brought the coffee we asked for three times and we didn't get our juice until we were almost done with the meal, and when it was delivered, it came with an attitude. I ended up going to the corner to McDonalds to get a coffee--ridiculous.

The concierge staff ranged from very helpful to useless for even the smallest query, they seemed truly hit or miss. Those who wanted to provide good service were exceptional, unfortunately one or two of them were aloof and even condescending.

The bar staff was pleasant enough, although we had a long wait to get our bill when we were finished with our drinks--we finally got up and went inside to ask for it.

All in all a good stay, but the service gaffs left lingering doubts as to whether I'd choose this hotel for my next stay in Rome.
