“Gave my room to the Football team”
Reviewed 23 October 2011

I secured a reservation here many months ago. Unfortunately upon arrival they informed me that they must give my room to some people whose flight was cancelled. They did arrange accommodation for me in a nearby hotel for the first night of a 7 night stay. That hotel was supposedly a 4 star hotel but was a bedbug infested hell hole (Grand Hotel Fleming). We then came back to the Donna Laura and were told by another member of staff that the football team was there yesterday (the real reason why we lost our room). The hotel gave me no discount and no apology and I even had to argue to get cab fare paid between the 2 hotels. They are liars and thieves. Avoid or the same may happen to you.

I stayed in Hotel Donna Laura Palace in Roma in the first weekend of September 2011 for work.
The hotel is located on the Lungotevere delle Armi,21 which is not far (8-10 minutes by foot) from the “Lepanto” underground stop.
Instead the downtown is not near by foot and you need a taxi or the underground.
My company booked a single room for only 67 euro per night, but normally the room is more expensive (more than 100 euro per night).
The hotel is a mix of modern and ancient furniture but the standard is high.
The breakfast is a buffet breakfast and there are a good selection of food.
The front desk staff is very friendly and you can ask information how to visit the city.
In conclusion: if you take an promotion is definitely a nice hotel … the only bad thing is that is not so near to the downtown.

My wife and I stayed 4 nights in Rome. This hotel is nice but could use some updates to make it even nicer. Breakfast buffet was included and was good. Fitness center was nice. Our bedding was less than luxurious .. blanket was a bit rough so we didn't use it at all. The towels were really nice. Be careful with the hot water in the shower/tub .. it's a bit unpredictable ..

If the hotel was closer to Piazza de Popolo or Navona, I'd recommend it to everybody. Truthfully, we will stay within a 5 minute walk from Piazza de Navona when we return to Rome someday.

Room Tip: Rooms that end in 04 are at the end of the hallway and I believe are a bit larger. Room 204 has a b...

We are two single females who booked our twin room 6 months ago. We turned up at midnight to be told our room had been double booked and that we were being sent to another hotel. Having being forewarned by other Trip Advisors that this is a scam to ship you out to a worse hotel for the whole duration of the holiday we refused point blank to go. After getting no where with the receptionist we then climbed into our pyjamas and slept in reception hoping to shame them into giving us a room. We were eventually offered a glass of water and the lights were dimmed when they realised they had met with an impasse.
The next day after being shown to an uncleaned room as the cleaners weren't in yet we showered unpackied and had breakfast. We then set the safe up to store our valuables. We both checked the safe was locked before we went out. When we returned in the evening my friend noticed 50 euros had been taken. Whoever took it had hoped a single note wouldn't have been noticed but my friend divides her money by the days she was stopping so realised straightaway. We went to reception who said they had never had anything like this happen before and they sent someone upstairs to check the safe. The safe now wasn't accepting our code which it was previously and the hotel staff member said we mustn't have set it incorrectly like that was a viable excuse for money to be taken. Later when we went to reception and spoke to the another receptionist about going to the police station he knew nothing about the incident. If this was the first time it had ever happened I would have thought it would have been the talk of the hotel but they appeared to be pretty nonchalant about it.
There was no tea making facilities in the room but when you asked for a drink either in the bar/restroom or room service you were told there was no one available.
The hotel is not central you have to walk 10 minutes to a metro station to get to anywhere.
A lovely trip spoilt. Don't think it is a one off and book. Read the other reviews and "Avoid like the Plague"
Oh and I noticed we were the only English speaking guests there. Are they just "Double booking" the non Italians? I wondered.

Great Hotel, the staff were helpful. Rooms were clean.but it is a bit far from the centre of Rome. If you wanted an evening meal you had to head back into to the centre of Rome! the Hotel did have a restaurant but not great. we did however on the last day find a lovely Restaurant five mintues down the road(turn left coming out of the Hotel and follow the main road and it is just on the corner) called Rossopomodoro. we also found a supermarket which was great as the prices in Rome are not cheap. The supermarket was just at the back of the Hotel( turn right, then right again, two minutes from the Hotel) so glad we found it. Rome was a wonderful place to stay.
