We had a double/twin room on the third floor at Hotel Sonya for 3 nights for in January 2018 and it was everything we hoped. We arrived at the hotel straight from the airport and as our room was ready they let us check in early which was great as we had been up since 3am! The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. A kettle was provided so we could make our own hot drinks - there was no tea/coffee but we always take our own so that was no problem. There was a small fridge, plenty of storage, a safe that locked with the room key and lots of sockets including one each side of the bed. Good wifi. Smallish bathroom but clean and perfectly adequate. The room was quite hot when we arrived but we kept the window open all the time - even though it was January the weather was lovely - which was fine. Blackout curtains kept out the light and as it was a fairly quiet area there was not much noise at night. The staff were very friendly and helpful with any queries and were great at answering questions on email before we arrived. We had a late return flight so they stored our luggage after departure and it was no problem to do some repacking in reception before heading for the airport. Breakfast was amazing - no hot food but a wide variety of cold foods including eggs, pie, the usual continental selection, great cappuccino and some gorgeous cake! It was served earlier than some hotels (7-10am) which was handy when wanting to make an early start. The location was excellent - only 5-10 mins walk from both Republica and Termini Metro stations and 10 mins from the bus to both airports. It was also close enough to walk to all the main sights - Trevi Fountain, Pantheon, Colosseum and even the Vatican. The hotel is right opposite a small supermarket which carries a wide range of groceries and there are a number of good restaurants in the same and neighbouring streets - you are spoilt for choice! Our only real complaint was that the double bed we requested was actually two singles pushed together that slowly moved apart through our stay, but other than that it was comfortable. The water in the shower fluctuated between very hot and very cold but not a huge deal. On the whole it was very good value, especially for Rome, we would stay again.

Something you don’t expect in Rome is value for money.

Located opposite the opera house just a short walk from Termini Station. We were lucky to get a newly renovated room, the best value for money room we’ve had in ask our trips to Italy.

I suggest you ask for rooms 115 - 120. We did notice that they were in the process of renovating the rooms above us as well.

The breakfast food and service was above average. Our only complaints was the shower water temperature that fluctuated between hot and cold and the internet whilst fast dropped out about 30% of the time.

On your departure be prepared to be told you have to pay the city taxes in cash. I asked if the city prefers cash, the receptionist just smiled.

A very nice 3 star hotel with good location. Just 5 min walk from the termini station. Walking distance to the famous sightseeing places. Very helpful receptionist , answered all our questions. We came there just to sleep and for the breakfast in the morning . Rooms are clean , the breakfast was ok.(nothing special , but there was everything that is needed for breakfast) for the price of it, very good option to stay for a couple of night, if you need a clean place to sleep and don’t expect anything luxurious .

We spent three nights at the Sonya on our first trip to Rome in October, 2017. We selected it based on its proximity to Termimi since we were coming from the airport and then taking the train to Venice. We did not do our homework and the cab driver saw flight weary newcomers and charged 25Euro to get us to the hotel. 10 or less would have been appropriate! The location was an easy walk to many sights and the Hop on/off was close by.
Our room had everything needed and the front desk was able to provide suggestions for many eating options in the neighborhood. Breakfast was delicious and the staff provided excellent service and the best cappuccino in the city!
We hope to return someday!

Hotel Sonya is directly across from the Opera House and an easy walk to the train. The hotel had nice furnishings in the room, toiletries in the bathroom. The wait staff is what really set it apart . Breakfast was hearty and I really appreciated the cappachinos provided by Jo, our waiter. They had s business center set up in the lobby and printed off our tickets for us. We stayed here four nights and would definitely stay here again.
