“Sonya compares very favorably”

this trip, we stayed in hotels in Venice, Florence, Certaldo, Roma, and Naples. this experience was by far the most enjoyable. value priced for Rome, our stay at hotel kennedy, recommended by British Airways, was a disaster with no air conditioning on record hot days. <hotel Sonya delivers on all the essentials...

Room Tip: always take a short trip to check the room BEFORE you check in...Sonyas rooms are superior to anythi...

Just got back from a 2 night stay at the Hotel Sonya. The hotel was in average condition. Rooms and bathroom small but clean. Hotel staff average. Daily breakfast was ok. This Hotel was convient to attractions, however a little far from the Termani train station.

Room Tip: We stayed on the 3rd floor. The lift was very old cage elevator and very small. It would only hold t...

I'm not a fancy traveler, but I don't like the little things that can ruin your trip. This being said, I really liked Sonya Hotel, even though the little things came close to pushing my buttons.

+ really good location, quiet, close to the metro
+ carrefour right across, via nazionale with a lot of shops very near by
+ rooms not small, not big, adequate. After all, you don't spend time in the room while in Rome
+ bathroom clean and with some space
+ good WiFi
+ real friendly staff

- the charming elevator. You'll first say "aw, this is so vintage, I love it". But only 3 people fit in it and it's always busy
- the breakfast. Boiled eggs, 3 kinds of desert, some pastry, jam, butter, bananas and some peaches. Aaaand that's it. Everyday, the same thing. It's good, but you get tired of it really fast. And I really didn't like that you had to ask for coffee and juice. Felt cheap.

It's a 3 star hotel and that's really all it is. Frankly, I say thumbs up all around, but if you're really picky you might need something more.

Room Tip: Something closer to the floor so that you don't have to count on the elevator

Hotel Sonya is a great place to stay - lots of local restaurants and there is a good grocery right across the street. It is clean and has an excellent breakfast included. Friendly and helpful staff. It is a a great value for the price.

We stayed at Sonya for 4 nights at the end of May. We were immediately excorted to our room, explained everything and given dinner recommendation(pretty good one).
Our room was smallish, but enough for everything, very clean, quiet, nice veiw from the window.
Bed was comfortable, could use better pillows. Bathroom was very small , but modern, good water pressure, plenty of towels.
Breakfast was great, enough choices of pastry, cold cuts, eggs, etc. Nice cappuccino, espresso.
Staff was very polite and friendly with us, gave us helpfull advices, directions, provided wake up calls, taxi.
So overall it was a very nice stay, location is great, close to most sights except Vatican (subway is nearby). Termini is nearby too.
If you in Rome for honeymoon I would pick something different, but if you are a regular middleclass tourist it is the right choice.
