Astoria Garden
Ranked #383 of 1,267 Hotels in Rome
Reviewed 21 April 2012

We recently stayed 3 nights at the Astoria Garden Hotel in Rome. First off, we arrived at the hotel around 12:00pm, and they graciously allowed us to check in 2 hours early. As stated, the rooms are very small (we had to place 1 suitcase on the desk in order to be able to walk around the bed). However, they are clean, and our room had a balcony overlooking the garden, which was quite nice. The breakfast is good, mostly pastries, breads, meats and cheeses. The convenience of being located 2 blocks from Termini Station is this hotel's best asset. The 1 problem we had with this establishment was their WiFi. Although their website states free WiFi, this is not the case. You receive 1 free hour of WiFi (you must obtain a username and password from the front desk, and the 60 minutes starts the moment your password is given). After that 1 hour, we were told that access would no longer be free, so we chose not to bother anymore. Quite inconvenient when we were expecting free access. Overall, a good hotel and a pleasant stay.

Hotel is just walking distance from the termini (which will get you to the most attractions at the least amount of time). It also saves a lot coming from the airport since there transport from airport to termini is cheaper versus airport to other locations.
The staff is very very accommodating and helpful. The breakfast buffet (in my personal view) is one of the good ones i have had in all of the other hotels we have stayed at in Italy.
Wifi reached our 1st floor rooms - and it is free - definite A+ for a someone who loves to check tripadvisor for where to eat or go next!
Lastly, we saw a laundromat (where you can leave your stuffs and someone will do the washing and drying and folding for you!) very near the hotel so another plus if you want to travel light.

Room Tip: the "french style" double rooms are by the far side so we felt it was quieter.

This hotel was very clean and pleasant. We were allocated a double room on the second floor at the front of the property. The room was a little small, particularly the bathroom. We would have expected 'in room' tea and coffee making facilities. However, buffet breakfast was a good start to the day and the reception staff were very pleasant, helpful and available at any time and even made an advanced booking for a restaurant at the end of the road for our first night, Medi Napoli - not disappointed and made second visit. Hotel close to transport links but within walking distance of most historic sites, (minutes away you can catch the 40 Express for the Vatican, 1 euro each - ideal). We also visited Mamma Angela's Restaurant (twice) loacted in the road to the rear of the hotel, book both restaurants not to be disappointed, nice atmosphere, good food and staff were great. The restaurant across the road from Mamma Angelo's is to be avoided. In our bedroom sockets were not near mirrors, room had economy lighting and a little dim. Opening of the shutters in daylight is essential. Bed was extremely comfortable providing excellent sleep. We would recommend the hotel and would stay again.

Room Tip: bathrooms of different shapes and sizes, room 310 bathroom better that 308(ours). Location of mirror...

I stayed at this hotel twice - once in a single room and once in a double. The rooms are small but both opened up to the lovely garden. Staff were very friendly and helpful, the rooms are clean and the location is very convenient for Termini. The breakfast buffet was lovely.

Room Tip: Wifi is free when the room is booked through the hotel's website.
