“Stay for the breakfast room alone!”
Reviewed 26 October 2011

We stayed here for 4 nights in October, 2011. It was a great choice. Our room was small, the bathroom pretty large, new and all marble. Everything was very crisp and clean. The location was excellent, just a half a block from the Piazza Barberini. It's within walking distance of both the Spanish Steps and the Trevi Fountain. (Both were so crowded when we were there, you could barely see anything.) It's also right across the street from the Plazzo Barberini--a wonderful palace with magnificent art work and the most fabulous fresco ceilings! And no crowds. The Hop-on-Hop-off buses stop at he Piazza Barberini, there is also a taxi stand there, as well as a subway stop. We had planned to do the "Hop" bus, but we found that taxis were inexpensive and were a better alternative, since you didn't have to wait for the bus.

The breakfast room is on the 6th floor, with a wall of windows over looking Rome to the west, including a great view of the dome of St. Peter's. There were lots of choices for breakfast, from scrambled eggs and cereal to the most delicious pastries ever. This is a great room!

The hotel has free wi-fi, and also a computer available if you don't have your own device. The front desk was very accommodating.

As soon as we arrived, we asked them to get us reservations to visit the Villa Borghese and also for a tour of the Vatican Museum. They did both immediately and graciously.

Before we left home, we contacted them by email and asked them to arrange for a car to meet us at the cruise port at Civitavecchia. They made the arrangements for us, and it cost less than our travel agent could arrange. They also arranged for a car to take us to the airport.

This was a very satisfactory stay. Good restaurants in the neighborhood (one the Hosteria) was excellent! We would definitely stay there again.

We booked in Feb 2011 and on arrival in October were told there had been an error on our booking that had only been picked up that morning! They were very gracious and transferred us to a sister hotel (free taxi)after being offered a free drink. The Empire Palace was fabulous, I recommend it but the whole experience spoilt our first impression. It was a special birthday celebration and it fell a bit flat. When we arrived at the Barberini our friends had a disappointing experience with the cleanliness of the bathroom, the toilet in particular had a brown residue in the bowl yet the cleaning 'seal' was intact. The hotel was quiet, we wanted a drink in the fabulous terrace bar/restaurant but there was no-one there. They kindly sent Roberto to serve us drinks and he was extremely friendly and to be commended on his customer service, but we felt 'in the way', it isn't obviously something that happens often! Other than that, I would say for the money there are better hotels in better locations.

Dear Sir/Madam,
we recall that October as a very unfortunate month due to several unexpected technical and human occurrences that took us time to fix and to solve. Besides that we were able to give our best care to anybody staying at hotel or to those whom were shortly protected to a sister hotel in an emergency situation. Our hotel is well-known for the cleaning and care of the details of the rooms as the certificate of excellence given to us by Tripadvisor state and we like to consider our selves one of those “ better and in better location” hotel worth for the money.
We hope you want to give us a second chance to express our selves in a better way whenever you plan to visit Rome in the future.
Sincerely, Mauro Laconi

Beautiful Hotel in the center of Rome Close to everything, including metro, subway, Buses and trains. Room was very large with a Italian flare to it. Restaurant on the 6th floor. Had a gorgeous view of the city. Breakfast was very good. Wireless internet did not work in room, had to go downstairs to lobby area to receive an connection. Seem that everyone was having the same problem.

Dear Sir / Madam,
we are glad to know that you enjoyed your stay at our hotel. Wireless did not work : true.
Wireless connection actually worked properly but we could figure what the cause of temporary malfunctioning was : housekeepers while cleaning up unintentionally pushed the switch on/off button of the main wireless bridge located in the floor ! Sorry for that..
We hope we can have the opportunity to welcoming you again in the future, we forward our warmest greetings.
Best regards

Stayed here last weekend had a great room, staff were very professional and friendly, breakfast was great too (and this was after 2 nights at the intercon).
Reading some of the other reviews on here I'm wondering if they got the wrong hotel as this one was spotless and the rooms were great

We booked 4 night in this hotel after reading reviews form Trip Advisor, We thought that the roof top breakfast room would be fresh air but it was a closed in airconditioned room.
Our first impression was that it was a bit grubby. The lift was dirty. needed vacuuming and the dirty marks on the stairs and around light switches needed a good clean. Our first room when we stayed 4 nights had a view over the palace but it was so small and the bed was hard! The staff were courteeous but unfriendly. Not warm and welcoming as we had hoped. However there was great young man who was helpful . He had good english and seemed to know evrything we needed to know. Sadly he wasn't always on duty. The hotel was expensive and we thought 4 star meant the staff would have quite good english but this was not so. They often couldn't understand what we were asking about.
We returned to the hotel(prebooked and prepaid ) for one night before we left Italy and the room was dreadful. It felt like a holding pen for sheep. We had an airconditioning unit outside our window and it was noisy. There was no view, only a run down exterior wall about a meter or 2 away.

Room Tip: Request a view and ask for a big room. Goodness knows if it will work.

Dear Customers,
It is our great pleasure to offer to all our guests breakfast in the beautiful roof top that, as you can see from pictures published on internet starting from this page of Tripadvisor, it is closed by sliding window-doors anyone can open to admire the magnificent view even better: most beautiful photos can be taken from over there. Please mind that sliding doors must be closed to permit proper and essential air-conditioning system !
Indeed we are very surprised of your negative impression about cleaning and courtesy of Barberini’s staff. We give huge care to the cleaning of all areas in fact our standards are recognized and appreciated worldwide. Perhaps our staff had gone to fetch the vacuum cleaner when you have noticed the dirty marks on the stairs. Referring to our staff at Reception, we think that if they are courteous must be friendly too, otherwise that may be a contradiction !
Our clients come from all continents and we are proud to set a beautiful friendship and relationship of courtesy speaking more than five languages maybe not so fluently but with mutual understanding. Clerks at hotel front desk are a high skilled interchangeable team , if the great young man was not always on duty surely was replaced by another of equal skill and courtesy.
Our kindest regards,
Mauro Laconi
