“Amazing hotel / great location!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 April 2012

We spent a weekend in Rome and stayed in the Kolbe Hotel. The room was very spacious and clean and in general the atmosphere in this ancient building and the attached garden was very charming.
The location is amazing as it was right in the center so we could walk everywhere.
The staff was very nice and helpful - we felt very welcome!!
Breakfast was delicious and definitely not what one is offered usually in Italy.
We will definitely stay there again next time.

We booked this hotel though British Airways as it was located next to the Forum and near the Collessum ( these were the top of our list to see). Easy cab ride from the airport ( 40 Euro's).
Our room was located on the ground floor and was small but perfectly formed. As we faced out onto the road there was some road noise but to be honest we were so tired after walking round Rome all day we slept like a log. The bed was very comfortable, infact we slept through the breakfast one morning! Breakfast was fine. Nothing exceptional but plenty of choice and enough to keep you going whilst doing the sights.
The hotel looks out over the Palentine Hill and is an easy walk to the Collesseum. We did not use public transport but walked all over the city. The map from reception was very detailed and was looking very dog eared after 3 days in and out of the bag as we toured the city.
The hotel offers tours but we booked with Alex Mariotti and never regreted it.

Perfect location, very good price, very nice room, great breakfast included. Most attractions in walking distance. Very friendly staff !

Free wifi, but lost connection often. Was not a major concern to us.

This hotel was located directly behind the palatine hill and a short walk from the colosseum and forum. Despite guidebooks saying there were few good restaurants in the area we found several within short walking distance that were good value for money and the food tasted good. Whilst staying we used no public transport, however the vatican was a good 40 minutes walk away.

The staff were friendly and extremely helpful, all the usual toiletries were available in the room however at request you could have several other items free, including a disposable razor and shaving cream (which having travelled hand luggage only was extremely useful)

The hotel was clean at all times and recently refurbished to a good standard. The room was a very good size.

Breakfast was included and had a good range of options including hot breakfast, fruit, cereal, cold cuts and pastries.

I would definitely return to this hotel if I visited rome in the near future.

Room Tip: Quieter rooms facing the gardens. However facing the road on the upper levels have a view of the pal...

I stayed here in January 2012 with my boyfriend after doing business there. We stayed there for approximately a week and it was very clean, modern, pristine, and had a wonderful selection for breakfast everyday. Cold cuts, yogurt, juice, croissants, toast, fruit, cheeses, etc. The staff was very nice and accommodating with our requests, they even helped call a taxi for us at 5am to go back to the airport. The rooms were good size, the only weird thing was that the doors were sliding doors to the bathroom as opposed to actual solid doors, but no big deal. The location was good, as you could walk up the street and turn the corner and see the whole Forum/Colosseum, but it was a bit further to walk to other sites and not exactly on top of a Metro stop or bus station. Either way, very nice experience and I would recommend it.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view of the terrace outside - it's beautiful in the spring and summer with...
