“Excellent Hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 April 2012

I have just returned from a 3 night stay at the Artemide and it was excellent. The staff were all so friendly and special thanks to Rosa in reception who took her time to ring around a number of restaurants we had chosen to try and arrange a reservation for us. The staff in the breakfast room were also excellent and nothing was too much trouble for them. The complimentary drink in the new roof top bar was a lovely touch and the roof top bar is a lovely area.
The rooms were lovely, very comfortable with a lovely stock of toiletries and the mini bar was great too - also appreciated the night time chocolate.
Only thing that I did find annoying which I believe another reviewer mentioned was the smoke alarm above the bed blinking a red light every few seconds.
Otherwise the hotel is in a fantastic location and if I am ever fortunate to return to Rome I will definitely stay at the Artemide again.

We chose this hotel based on Trip Advisor and expected it to be nice. It was even better than we hoped. Every one of the staff was friendly and very helpful. Our room was very modern and roomy. The beds were comfortable including the fold out couch. We were greeted with a bowl of fresh fruit, free mini-bar, nightly chocolates and a free glass of champagne. Breadfast was very good and served for a nice period of time. The view from the terrace was great and we enjoyed our meal as well. The hotel is located very close to the Republica metro stop and within easy walking distance to many of the sights. We would definately stay here again.

Room Tip: Room facing the street was a little noisy, but we loved the doors opening out to a small balcony.

This hotel is in an excellent location. Lots of great eating places around. You can walk around in any direction of this hotel and still have no problem getting back to hotel, even at night. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Everyone there spoke very good english. We stayed here for 3 nights. Our only regret was that we did not stay longer. The hotel is very beautiful!! We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend this hotel to anyone. I rated this hotel a 5 star, but it really is a 10!! Thank You so very much to everyone who made our trip so mememorable.

What a great hotel!
10 minute walk to Coliseum, Spanish steps and Trevi fountain.
Helpful professional staff.
Excellent breakfast which includes hot and cold selection.

We arrived at 12pm and the apologetic staff informed us that our room would be ready in 1 hour, that they had upgraded us and invited us to have a complementary champagne at the bar.
The room was wonderful, large, quiet and with a terrace.
Highly recommend this fabulous hotel.

First I want to mention all the positive aspects of this hotel . All the staff (front desk, breakfast room, housekeeping) were unfailingly helpful and friendly. The free minibar, welcoming bottle of wine, and nightly chocolates were appreciated. The bed was great, as were the breakfasts.. So why just three stars? The room itself was small, warm and stuffy. We asked for the air conditioning to be turned on, but it isn't available until the Summer months. Our stay was at the end of March, and we had to prop open the door to the hall to get some ventilation. One other minor complaint. I'm an insomniac and having the smoke alarm above the bed blinking a red night every few seconds was annoying. Maybe some of the other rooms were more comfortable and better ventilated. Also, we were on the fifth floor, and the elevator only went up to four. This wasn't problem for us, but for people with mobility issues, the flight of stairs could be a problem
We had hoped to sit on the rooftop terrace, but it was closed for renovation so we can't comment on that.

RomeGR, Guest Relations Manager at Hotel Artemide, responded to this review, 26 April 2012
Dear guest,

Thank you for your review and for your nice words about our staff and service. We are glad that you enjoyed the Chianti bottle and the chocolates we left for you in the room.
We regret to learn that there were some minor issues that changed your opinion on our hotel and we will address those now.
We are sorry that you perceived your room as being small; we want to assure you that you booked and were given a classic double room (15 m²), and although we accept your opinion on size, we have to say that the room size and features are described on the website from which you’ve acquired your stay.
Regarding the air-conditioning in the room, we try to be as eco-friendly as possible as well as complying with national and European environmental laws, therefore air-conditioning cannot be turned on before the beginning of April. We are sorry that this has compromised your comfort, but there wasn’t much we could do except, as we mentioned on previously replies, leave a portable fan in your room.
As for the small light on the smoke detector, it is really an imperceptible red light but we understand it can be annoying especially if you suffer from insomnia. For that reason we can provide a special cover, for those few who ask at reception.
You have been assigned a room on the 5th floor and, as you mention, the lift on that wing is an original, dating back to 1870 (with a modern operating system, naturally), that only arrives to the 4th floor. There a few steps that guests need to climb in order to get to their room, a quieter room which offers more privacy to guests, and it is usually very appreciated. However, we would never think about assigning that room to guests with limited mobility or that would prefer a more accessible room.
We take the opportunity to say that our Rooftop-Bar and Restaurant is now open, just in time for the summer months and to enjoy the lovely roman sky-line. We would be very happy to see you again and welcome you there soon!
