“Room was an unpleasant surprise, but location was great”
Reviewed 20 August 2011

It was an unpleasant surprise when we arrived. The room was in terrible condition.
It seemed like it wasn`t ever reconstructed. The pictures on website were completely different from what our room looked like. The beds were in bad condition, we slept like in bath. The bathroom was the worst.

To be fair the location was amazing. We were closed to Spanish steps and most of the day we were wondering the streets.
For breakfast you get voucher for one croissant and coffee or tea.

after i read all the review i was bit worried to stay there but as i made my reservation and i can't find the other place with the same bugget as i booked for so i went at prince of via veneto but honestly when i went there i find its really cool , the staff are so kind the room we stayed is big and clean the flat screen tv is new as well as the aircondition, they give us the key for all the doors at the building so we can go out and in whenever we like, breakfast at the bar is raelly cool cause we went there at 13.00 and still we got our breakfast ( cappuchino and crosent) . the area is the best of all cause anywhere we went it was so easy to get there and ofcourse the staff at the reception he is just ready to help with all the direction and whats going on and where in the city, so we actually enjoy our stay there and definetly will go back there when we visit Rome again and we advise our frineds to stay at prince of via veneto when you are in Rome.

Room Tip: room 3 , 4,5,6 are the best

The place is on the top floor of the building. The buzzer had a piece of paper taped to it saying "retrome" Maybe after the money I gave them, they can afford a tag or plaque ;).

Its on the top floor, you can squueze two suitcases and two people into the elevator. Nice a squishy but beats taking the stairs. The room wasnt ready when we arrived at 10 am but they held our luggage and we went exploring.

The room is about the size of any hotel room. The shower had good water pressure. Can't complain about anything other than it's not a 5 star hotel... but what do you expect... the price is right!

10-15 min walking distance from the Spanish steps, and another 10 min to the trevi fountain. The metro is 10 min walk away. We used our feet in rome. Being stuck underground when there is so much to see is not the way we wanted to spend the two days we had.

Breakfast is ok. You get a voucher and its the cafe right beside the main entrance to the building. Very good coffee and pastry (you get one of each). But they are closed on Sundays.

Not too much else I can say, but it is a decent place to stay for the location and price. You want luxury like a holiday inn in North America, then be prepared to fork out lots of Euros in Rome.

Upon arriving we were greeting by Sam who apologetically told us that despite our reservation there had been an error and that they were overbooked. I panicked a little when he said he'd found another location for us--who knew what we'd be getting---and we were weary from travelling. BUT---the place that he re-booked us in was an amazing apartment with a view of the City!! I know that the Ret Rome took a loss because the new place was more expensive but without blinking an eye Sam assured us that they would cover the difference. This was the right thing to do, but unfortunately not all business owners see things that way. We were so blessed by the new location AND the fact that RetRome put the customer first. I have no doubts that our stay was a financial loss for them but I hope that the reviewers see this and give them 10 fold return by staying with them! Sam was gracious and made sure we were settled in the new place and that the payment terms were arranged with the host at that location. Though I didn't get to stay at RetRome I was BEYOND impressed at their resolution to what could have been a horrible end to our 16 day trip! THANK YOU SAM!!
