“Cozy hotel with a Fantastic Staff and Wonderful Dinner Opportunity”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 June 2012

I spent 4 nights at the Hotel Lancelot. I had a wonderful experience there. The beds were firm but also soft. The matress was comfortable, but firm enough to not know that there was someone on the other side of the bed turning over.

The staff was so helpful with questions and advice. I have a gluten allergy and the staff was very accomodating with my meals. a basket was placed out at breakfast with gluten free goodies. I loved their "Round Table" dinners. For 30 euro you had a 3 course meal and unlimited wine. You are seated with other guests and get to have lively discussions while meeting new people. Again, they accomodated my gluten allergy by making me a special dessert of fruit and sorbet.

The bar is very cute and cozy. They have a bookshelf where you can leave books. A trove of Italy books have been left for you to peruse. I donated 3 myself when I left Italy.

The location is fantastic. it is so close to the Coliseum, but down a very quiet street. City traffic is usually an issue at hotels, but this place was wonderfully quiet.

They also accomodated my friend and I by allowing me to pay for 2 nights with my credit card, and her paying for 2 nights with her card.

I would absolutely stay here again. It was truly a bargain and an incredible find of a hotel!

We finished a trip to Tuscany and Rome with a 4 night stay at the Lancelot Hotel in Rome, which is a 3 to 5 minute walk from the Colosseum and the accompanying metro stop. The location is perfect;close enough to walk anywhere, but just far enough away to be in a quiet setting. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. We met Mrs. Khan, the proprietress, and she was delightful to talk to, and she gave us a lot of interesting perspectives on Rome. The rooms were very comfortable and clean, and we're well appointed with unique furnishings and elegant decor. The hotel has a cozy bar and patio area which provide an additional retreat from the hectic city. They also offer an excellent dinner nightly at a very affordable price. There was also a very good pizza place a block away if you wanted a quick meal. All in all, our stay here was outstanding, and we definitely would stay here again.

We are a family of 5, 2 adults and 3 children 2,6 and 8. We are drawing to the end of our week at Lancelot. It is a beautiful hotel and the staff are so wonderful and helpful. I read with interest some negative commenst on this site and cannot beleive it and hence writing an early review. Our room (45) is large bright and airy, we have a queen bed 2 singles and a cot and still plenty of floor space for kids to lie and draw and play games. We have a wraparound balcony which is lovely when kids are in bed - i think a little dangerous to have the kids out there. It is a great location for us and there are several great pizzeria close by and the colliseum just around the corner. Breakfast is plentiful - woud be nice maybe for a bit of variety but I cannot complain, it is fresh and a great fuel for a big day. We have the half board option as we felt with 3 kids that going out to dinner after a long day exploring would not be a pleasant experience. Dinner is at 7.30 and is 3 courses. The hotel have been wonderful adapting the menu for the kids palate. Food is ok, not great but pleasant - maybe a suggestion that the vegetables are a tad overcooked - but we have enjoyed our meals and meeting other guests.
Overall I feel this is a WONDERFUL hotel and I would certainly recommend it to others

Extra friendly and helpful staff, excellent location. A bit of noise from the outdoor courtyard through the night, and poor drainage in the shower, but it's Rome after all! Comfy beds, reasonable breakfast. Buy the Roma Pass from the hotel, to save hours of lining up at the Colosseum and get free admission to the forum and one other museum, plus free public transport for 3 days. Excellent restaurants near the hotel, too.

We spent 3 nights in Rome and stayed at the Hotel Lancelot. Wonderful experience from booking the room till our departure. Everyone was very responsive to my questions by email prior to arrival. We had Giovanni pick us up at the airport from our overnight flight. It made the trip to the hotel much easier and we learned a bit about the city as he described places along the way. Our room was not ready as we arrived at 8 AM, but Lorena got us all checked in and stored our luggage. Breakfast was still being served so they suggested we have a seat and enjoy it. That was much appreciated after 8 hours on the plane.

After check-in we purchased the Roma Pass right at the hotel and headed to the Roman Forum. I'd definitely advice purchase of the Pass to by-pass lines. Even though it rained one day, we thoroughly enjoyed the easy walking about the city. It's easy to go astray, so get a good map. Our mis-steps did leads us to a wonderful "buy it by the gram" pizza place.

Our travel partners had a room with a balcony and so we purchased picnic supplies and some good wine to relax in the evening. The great location of the Lancelot allowed us to walk around the Colleseum after our picnic. Seeing it under the lights was a great experience and something we may missed staying somewhere else.
