“It definitely was an adventure – not what I expected”
Reviewed 10 June 2012 for a stay in May 2012

Two good things: it was close to the Metro and quiet.
I would not recommend it. Not being able to meet the landlord was a big negative. Her emails are very courteous, but she was out of town.
The cleaning lady met us and spoke no English. Trying to figure out where the light switches were – we accidently turned off the hot water. Only once did we get a hot shower!! Being out of town, the landlord was not able to assist us. My friend is very sensitive to mold. She was sick the entire visit in Rome. The bathroom has mold and the towels smell of mold. Bring your own towels. I had to put the towels outside the window just to sleep at night. The neighbor called us and complained that we kept him up all night by moving furniture and walking around. We were sound asleep after the long flight. This was upsetting since he could confront us in the hallway (he didn’t). Hotels offer a buffer and can handle any difficulties between guests. You also have the option of changing your room. We were going to move to a hotel and get a hot shower and away from the mold. If you stay at a hotel, you can give 24 hour notice and move to another hotel. This is not possible when you pre-pay for the whole trip. My recommendation is to go to a hotel, get a hot shower, have clean towels every day and leave if you become ill from the mold.

Dear Kxxx,

I’m very surprised to read this negative review as you never told me anything about not been comfortable, rather the opposite, including your last e-mail after departure. We were constantly in touch via e-mail and we also spoke on the phone when you arrived. I could have helped you to find a solution. You could have gone to an hotel in the area. I did not even have to give you money back as you did not pay upfront. I came to collect your payment and fix the hot water switch towards the end of your stay. Also, I’m not responsible if you turned the hot water switch off. You’re right, being in a hotel is different than being in an apartment. In an apartment it’s like being at home. There is nobody who makes your bed and changes towels every morning or open the windows to get fresh air in. Yes, there was a smell of mold when I came to the apartment and that was because there were wet towels all over the places and all the windows closed. When you left I found the furniture moved around. Did you move it the first night when you arrived before falling sound asleep? That might have awaken up the neighbor who, in a very quite building, could not go to the reception and complain, but had to deal directly with you!

“Fantastic location, very helpful owner, comfortable, light apartment”

The property was very pleasant, light and airy (lots of windows and high ceilings) It was perfectly located in a quiet old street 2 mins walk from the Coliseum.
There are 2 metro stations nearby, Cavour - 5 mins walk away and Colosseo - 2 mins. Several small grocery stores and a supermarket are also nearby, as well as numerous restaurants and cafes. The owner was very helpful, she organised a taxi from and to the airport for us and directed us to good restaurants. The kitchen had all the equipment we needed for a short stay. The apartment was clean and nicely decorated. Very comfortable size for two people. There was nothing we could complain about. Overall a very good choice for our stay. Would definitely recommend! Will stay there again if in Rome.
