“Enjoyable stay”
Reviewed 2 March 2012

We had two rooms on the same floor for ourselves and two adult children.
we were able to get one room early as we arrived around lunch time, was appreciated.
we were shown to our room and bags were handled well.
The rooms were great. Modern and spacious. Nice windows and good light.
Location perfect.
Staff friendly and helpful.
We did not take breakfast in the hotel so no comment.
Internet worked well.

Very nice contemporary property in central Rome with personal/helpful touch. This is not a full service hotel in the traditional sense but it is where it counts. Staff couldn't have been more helpful. Arranged car service to/from airport was reliable and I would recommend it. Room was good size, contemporary, and clean. Location is A+. Breakfast was really nice. Hard to imagine a better value in central Rome.

Babuino is in the upmarket Tridente district (a perfect area for shopping) 5 minutes from the Spanish Steps, a short walk from Villa Borghese and only 22km from Rome Fiumicino Airport. We stayed at Babuino 181 for 3 nights in August 2011, whilst in Rome for a wedding, the suites are spacious, comfortable and our room at the back of the hotel was surprisingly quiet given the central location. The room was equipped with a Nespresso machine, a good sized bathroom, plenty of wardrobe space & excellent air conditioning - an essential in 40 degree heat! There's no restaurant or bar but breakfast was brought to our room & the very friendly concierge were happy to recommend local restaurants. Transport from the hotel is easy as Piazza di Popolo is 2 minutes walk from the hotel & has a large taxi rank. The only downside was that a late check-out wasn't possible (even though we had requested it weeks before our arrival) but the concierge were accommodating & let us use the lounge after check-out.

Room Tip: Our room at the back of the hotel was very quiet

simply put, if you like discreet luxury, take pleasure in the tiniest details, excellent design, and warm, professional staff, you will LOVE this place!

why i loved the place:
1. central, yet discreet: a 5 minute walk from the Spanish steps, 10ish to the Trevi Fountain, and you can walk to the Vatican in about 20-25.
With Babuino, there is no outward flashiness - its a discreet entry on a snazzy street, like the entry to your exclusive apartment.

the service is also discreet. breakfast to your door, a traditional breakfast or fruits, muesli and yoghurt (quite filling - they'll send croissants as well, if you want) if you prefer. freshly squeezed orange juice, certainly didn't taste like stuff out of a can.

2. impeccable design and still cosy: the rooms are fabulous. we had 202, one of their suites, and it was absolutely lovely. every detail, from the lighting, the stylish lamps, generous walk-in closet, personal nespresso machine, the enormous (and very comfortable) 4-poster bed, even the window shutters, are immaculate. the bathroom is the size of most rooms, a tub you actually want to lie in, or the 'rainfall' shower.

if you want the big marble hotel lobby, this may not be for you. but if you want your own cozy, snazzy apartment for a few days as you explore Rome, and want to look forward to coming back to your room every day, this is the place!
