“The Best Shore Excursion EVER!”
Reviewed 29 July 2012

The trip was FANTASTIC, Claudio picked us up right at the ship and asked us what sites we would like to see.
Since we only had 1 day in Rome, we obviously couldn't see everything but Claudio slowly drove by many of
sites so we could at least see them. We actually did the following all in 8 hours...
...Entered and toured the Coliseum, with line passes that Claudio arranged.
...Visited the Trevi Fountain and threw our coins in (so we have to come back to Rome)
...Drive by Spanish Steps
...Drive by and around Roman Forum
...Drive by and around Circus Maximus and other points of interest
...Stopped to walk down and around Michelangelo's Steps and the Palazzo Senatorio
...Drive around the Vatican
...Enter and tour the Vatican Museum, St Peters and the Sistine Chapel
We also squeezed in a hour for Lunch.

A MUST tour for everybody arriving on a cruise ship.

“Great way to see Italy”
Reviewed 29 July 2012

We had a wonderful experience with DGS in Italy (with 3 one day trip in Rome, Florence and Naples). We are a family of 5 including a 5-yr old and a senior. Our goal was to see as much as possible in one day in each city with the minimum walking. DGS is definitely the way to go! They dropped us off right in front of the entrance and picked us up at the exit. All 3 drivers (Ivano, Georgio and Sel) were excellent. They gave us a lot of background/history on each of the historical sites. In Pompei and Vatican City, we really enjoyed the guided tours. This was a great way to see Italy with short time period. We would recommend this service to anyone.

“Awesome Tour of Italy and The Vatican”
Reviewed 26 July 2012

We ended our cruise with a tour of Italy. I decided to book a private tour guide on my own instead of going through the cruise ship. I couldn't have made a better decision. Ivano was very responsive to my emails and he kindly answered all of my questions and assured us that we would have a great tour.

Ivano met us at the cruise port. He was on time... but we were not! For some reason, it took over an hour or more to let us off of the ship. I thought that Ivano would be mad, but he couldn't have been more warm and welcoming. He is a very enthusiastic tour guide which was great especially since we were traveling with two children (ages 8 and 10). I was worried that they would not be interested in the history of the city but Ivano made sure that they were. He would tell them about what we were looking at and then he would pull out his iPad and show them pictures of what that same site looked like thousands of years ago! They thought that was awesome!

Ivano has a ton of connections in the city and he makes good use of them. He arranged to get tickets for us to see the Coliseum ahead of time. So when we got there, we didn't have to wait in any lines. This saved us a ton of time especially since we were in the city 2 days before Easter... the lines were huge, but not for us!

When it was time to grab a bite to eat, he took us outside of the main city to one of his favorite places. The food was fabulous and the service was great. It was nice to get out of the hustle and bustle for a short time to relax.

We were spending the night in Rome and wanted to spend the following day at The Vatican. Again, I decided to hire Driver Guide for this tour too! Ivano had arranged to have a driver, Marco, pick us up at our hotel the following morning. Marco was on time and very nice. He took us to The Vatican where we met up with our private tour guide. I wish that I could remember his name because he was fantastic! (Maybe Ivano will read this review and be able to tell us.) Again, there was no waiting in long lines... we only had to wait a few minutes for the Vatican to open and off we went. Our guide informed us that once inside we would bypass all of the sites at the beginning and go straight to the Sistine Chapel. Wow, that was a great idea. We were able to see the Sistine Chapel with only a handful of people. This was amazing especially considering that we were there on the Saturday before Easter Sunday! I will post a picture of us waiting to enter the Chapel... the people that were standing with us in that picture are the only ones that were in the Chapel with us.

After our tour was finished, Marco met up with us again. We hired Ivano's company to drive us to the Amalfi Coast where we spent 2 nights. Marco was a great driver and was very friendly. We spent over 4 hours with him. He took us to a great place to have lunch on our way to Amalfi and also stopped along the roadside and bought us some lemon ice at one of the local vendors. The kids loved this.

Once we got to the Amalfi Coast, Marco did a great job navigating the tiny streets. Wow, was that an experience. It is hard to believe how narrow the streets are. It is amazing that the buses are able to make it through.

Our two day experience with Ivano and his company was fabulous! We couldn't have found a better company to use. I would highly recommend Driver Guide Service!

“Thank you!”
Reviewed 26 July 2012

Thank you, Paulo and Patricia for an amazing time in Rome. Our only wish is that we could have spent more time seeing such a wondrous place.

Having said that, the amount of places that Paulo had taken us to was amazing considering what little time he had. Everything went so smoothly from the perfect pick up to drop off at the cruise terminal. Traffic was a challenge as the public transport was on strike, we were quite grateful for such a terrific guide! Paulo was so very patient with our large group. I appreciate him very much and hope to one day meet him again, a wonderful person!

Everything we learned was fabulous and left us planning to return. We had been in the Vatican before but did not experience it in that way, it truly was mind blowing! Patricia was incredibly knowledgeable, very patient (I'm sure she felt like she was herding 8 cats) and so sweet!!

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!!

“The way to go in Italy”
Reviewed 26 July 2012

The people at DGS were excellent. I reviewed many tour companies and decided to give DGS a try because they included guides at no extra cost. Having 7 in our group meant that we were able to use their mini vans. This gave us the opportunity to get up close and personal with many tourists attractions and also with out driver/guide. The driver/guides we had were more than great, they were exceptional! Enrico, Claudio & Alex made us feel right at home. They did everything we requested and more. Roberta & Ivano created a great company with great people. I tell people back home that "DGS is the way to go in Italy".
