I took my 3 daughters (under the age of 10) to Rome for 5 days (Feb 27 - Mar 2, 2012) and we stayed at La Residenza Al Saraceno. We could not have picked a better location.

The location is excellent: about a 3 minute walk to the Trevi Fountain, about 5 minute walk to the Spanish Steps (with small children). We had the One Bedroom Apartment (room 102) which was perfect for us. It had a very small, yet functional kitchen for warming up leftovers (we didn't try any major cooking - but it did have pots and pans ... however the oven is just a warming oven that goes to 250 F). 2 of the girls slept on the pull out couch in the living room, and I slept with the other in the bedroom with me. The room was nice and clean. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom was very modern.

The staff was more than helpful with helping us find locations on the map, calling taxi's and even gave us an extra hour beyond check out time. They came and ensured that the TV was working and that we knew how to find the children's tv channels and convert them to English. They were also very good at handing out little chocolates to the girls.

Across the street was a grocery store where we picked up some items for a quick breakfast. Bank machines were located nearby and so were gelato stores!

We didn't need to use the elevator to get to our room (up 1 flight) so I can not comment on the small elevator that some guests have mentioned.

The only thing that could have been improved was for some dish soap to be provided (I've seen this in many reviews) I didn't wash up the 3 plates and 4 spoons that we used, as I wasn't going to purchase dishsoap for 3 plates and 4 spoons. Housekeeping didn't wash them either. I did leave them, as I wanted to ensure that they got washed, and not just rinsed and put back in the cupboard for the next guest.

I would definitely stay here again! It was much more reasonable than many hotels that I looked at and the location couldn't be beat.

Everything seems to work well, from the pickup at the airport, the apartment is fairly large, quiet, and above perfectly located, within walking distance to major sights. Café Angelina is right on the ground floor for breakfast and a supermarket next door, too.

We stayed here from 27 Oct. to 02 Nov. 2011. The location is very good. It’s just a few streets away from the major sites, taxi stand and Metro stations. There is a coffee shop in the corner, a grocery store across and a decent restaurant next door.
Marcello, the receptionist was very helpful and attentive. He gave us all the information we needed with a map of Rome, the minute we checked in, without us asking. He also answered all our questions. what he did not know, he will check out and tell us later. The older man and the young lady were not communicative or helpful.
The room was spacious. It was convenient to have the small fridge. They have a water kettle but nothing else. They should offer coffee and tea in the room and a coffee maker. There is also a big round table and two chairs in the room, very handy to work and eat. The decoration is funky. The bed was very comfortable. The Wi-Fi worked very well. The bathroom is long but narrow and shower is very small, even though there is room for a bigger one. There is nowhere to place shampoo or anything else inside the shower, except on the floor. But then there is little space to bend or kneel down. Really weird, considering I’m a petite person, just 4’11” and 125 lbs. Big American men will have difficulties.
Room had double pane windows, but still could hear street noise outside a bit. Especially, we could hear trucks cleaning the streets and work being done on the street. The good thing is that there is a no traffic street on one side of the building. You could hear the noisy neighbors going up & down the stairs chatting and shouting to one another. They sounded French and I was tempted to ask them to be more considerate.
The TV channels were fantastic. They had French and Spanish as well. The dubbed movies could be seen in the original language at the touch of a button. The TV was a huge plasma one.

Friendly service, clean large rooms and fabulous location! Despite being on the little street that ends in the tourist-mobbed Trevi Fountain, Residenza Al Saraceno is relatively quiet, as it is on a separate little bit of the street that blocks car access from the major road with a sidewalk. There is no breakfast served in this boutique hotel, with the wide marble staircase and old-fashioned little wooden elevator, and the front desk closes at 8PM. But downstairs there is an upscale coffee bar with pastries or a full-blown restaurant that seems to be a real Roman hangout (as opposed to a tourist trap), and next door is a more casual bar that serves full American breakfast. Also across the street is a supermarket. The main seen-and-be-seen walking/shopping drag in town, Via del Corso, is only a block away; most major historical sites are within walking distance. And yet, the room was surprisingly large, and the service was personable and warm. I loved staying at lovely Residenza Al Saraceno.

These apartments are in a fantastic spot near Trevi fountain. The two guys that run the hotel were so polite and helpful it was fantastic. The rude young lady who was occasionally on reception didn't represent the hotel well at all..clearly she doesn't enjoy her job! How ever she was rerely at the desk which was great. The rooms were large and so were the bathrooms. We stayed in the two bedroom deluxe which had two queens and a sofa bed with two bathrooms great for a family. The guy on reception gave us a tour when we arrived and showed us the tv etc. The tv had a heap of stations which included kids and movies and had the ability to choose your language. The lift was very small and it was a bit of a pain if someone on another floor left the door open so it wouldn't move to your floor to allow to get in. The rooms were clean and had everything you need very spacious and nice. The reception area is nothing special but clean and ok, the beds are very hard and didn't have enough covers. Overall a good place to stay. Mainly nice staff which were helpful. They offer airport transfers 60 euro which isn't bad most places charge 90 euro
